Satan=opposite of God; church=place where one worships. Hence, the Church of Satan is the place where the followers of the opposite of God worship.

LaVeyan Satanism is a type of humanist philosophy. They don’t actually oppose God (as they don’t believe in him) and to them Satan is more of a mascot or metaphor. They aren’t literal Satan worshipers.

Wrong, and wrong. Satanists do not believe in God. Period. At all. They also don’t believe in Satan as He is portrayed by the Judeo-Christian Church, but instead believe in him as an idea, as a philosophy. Nothing more, and certainly not as an entity to be worshipped.
dude some of us are theistic satanists we DO worship satan as an idol but we do NOT confirm or believe in the existance of God. we are also polytheistic with the crowned princes, all to be worshipped, being satan, lucifer, belial, and leviathan.
How can you affirm the existence of the pantheon of the fallen angels like Lucifer, Belial and Leviathan, and yet not affirm the existence of God, even as a notion? Surely for the satanic forces to even have a purpose, they must have an adversary?

Oddly, the Church of Satan doesn’t actually believe that Satan (or God) exists; they just use it as a symbol of self-indulgence and because they know it pisses off the mainstream. I find it hard to take them seriously.
