No record exec would ever produce and write songs for a young female singer that would capitalize on the male fascination with girls kissing each other. Why that would be exploitation! Next, you’d have us believe someone would write male homophobic songs for that same girl! What a ludicrous suggestion!
Guys, she gets her songs “co”-written by others. She’s a mass produced, machine tooled, consumer product. Her songs aren’t expressions of feelings, they’re advertising. Just because she doesn’t mention boys in “her” lyrics doesn’t mean the marketing folks didn’t aim the song at them.

As a bisexual for 15 years (I’m 28) I have to say that there is a HUGE difference between being a young bisexual just figuring things out and being a teenager who is just trying something because it’s in the media. I don’t think it should be as hard to come out as it was when I did it, but I do think that a person’s sexuality should not be taken as lightly as it is these days.
Kissing a girl “just to try it” and not because you are genuinely interested in a relationship is promiscuous. It gives real bisexuals who are secure in their preferences a bad rap as sluts. It also confuses the hell out of the bisexual you may be kissing. If you kiss a bisexual she is likely to think you are interested in her.
We have a name for girls/guys who experiment when they are drinking: “two beer queer”. It is NOT a term of endearment.
People who are straight and know that they are straight set the GLBT community back when they go around making out with the same gender in bars and at parties.
Stop making us look bad.
Coming from another long-time bisexual: There’s a huge difference between “experimenting” and “not being interested in a relationship”. Provided that the person who is experimenting is honest about that, I don’t think its promiscuous at all. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with trying something new and different, provided that both parties are willing and under the same impression as to the nature of the kissing.
It’s a total different matter for a straight girl or guy to intentionally lead someone else on without explaining their intentions.
Additionally, when it comes to “two beer queers” (that’s a phrase I’d never heard before and will be happily using from now on), I think you should also remember that some people aren’t exactly comfortable with homosexual tendencies and the inhibitions they usually feel may just disappear with liquor.

I totally agree about lowered inhibitions, but I think that the media can sometimes glamorize sexuality to the point that people may do it just to get attention. IAnd maybe I’m just a little peeved that I always manage to hit on the one straight girl on lesbian nights at the club.
