    ………………….wow…………………..

  2. Rene Otero says:

the developers did that on purpose…

  3. Matt says:

I saw this years ago on another website.

What next..Headmaster Cid and Elton John?

  4. ur mom says:

sean connery sold the rights to his likeness to the developers, thats why he looks like the character

  5. Lolnathan says:

Yeah this is not really a coincidence so it makes a bad lookslike. Most of the faces in metal gear were based on actors.

  6. Jiminy Skank says:

As someone else said, not only is this deliberate, but it’s based on that exact picture. I don’t know what the legality of image rights is in Japan but the MSX version of Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (where this picture is taken from) also includes a version of Snake who looks like Mel Gibson, Roy Campbell as played by Richard Crenna and a very cheeky lift of Albert Einstein standing in for Dr. Petorovich Madnar.

These faces were all changed for the version of the game that features in Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence

  7. photoshop says:

    what game is this from?

(sigh, I wish I had the magazine in question)

Alright, just so I can nip this in the bud two weeks down the line, in the latest installment (spellcheck) of the Metal Gear Games, the publishers deliberatly (spellcheck) used an actor from an older movie as the model for Snake, so when we see this in the upcoming weeks, please feel free to reference this.

It’s written at the top of this post but the current date is wednesday the 6th, so you can also jot in when I wrote this for you fabulous (spellecheck) link.

He’s still alive in Metal Gear Solid 4. Solid Snake kills Liquid Ocelot (who was really just Ocelot. He hypnotized himself to think he was Liquid Snake) and destroys the Patriots (who weren’t even human, all of the big world decisions were being made solely by a network of AI’s.) Meryl gets married to the guy from metal gear solid that gets sick while watching Solid Snake’s cell. Raiden loses both arms in battle, but keeps going. He holds his sword in his teeth. After all this, the credits roll. The last name is for Big Boss. Then you meet big boss. He hugs Snake and then QQ’s about his rough life. He still misses the boss. Then he smokes a cigar dies peacefully.

Now none of you will have to play the game.

    • David says:

Dude, don’t spoiler everyone. I don’t have a PS3, so you just ruined half the game for me

    • Einstein runner says:

No, Ocelot got Liquid’s forearm attached to his stump (Liquid’s forearm was cut off by the Cyborg Ninja in MGS1) sometime in MGS2 (but it was replaced by a cybernetic prosthetic sometime between then and MGS4). He channeled the “spirit” of Liquid that was in the arm to become Liquid Ocelot. And you didn’t have to give away the plot. And I’ve met (kind of, just got my copy of MGS4 signed by him) Kojima at Comic-Con.

Those of you who haven’t played any of the Metal Gear games are really missing out – they’re epic :-)
The reason actors likenesses were used, even way back then, is because the developer (a games genius called Hideo Kojima) wanted to make something which was more like a playable film… Only better :-)
20 years & multiple versions later, MGS3 arrives on PS3, and it’s really very good.

Oh, by the way David (above), it would be fairer to say that at least 2 thirds of the game has been ruined for you by Sistema’s concise summary, but seeing as you don’t actually have a PS3, you really can’t be that much of a fan so I wouldn’t worry yourself too much :-S

  14. mang says:

Big boss looks more like sean connery that sean connery looks like sean connery

  15. Kyle says:

Big boss was designed to look like sean so its makes sense that they look alike

    Ha. You just got outgeeked.

  17. poopoo says:

damn, they must have done this on purpose…

  18. Darian says:

No other way than that the char is based on him, end of discussion.

( I mean who else looks out of the corners of his eyes like that)

  19. Magus says:

Actually its Big Boss From Metal Gear 2 : Solid Snake, not Metal Gear Solid

  20. Atlas Argento says:

Big Boss’s appearance in Metal Gear 2 was based on Sean Connery.

  21. Ruin says:

    Live action MGS anyone?
