some of you need to do some research. Tim purposely made him look similar, Tim and Smith are tight. The cure was even going to make the soundtrack for one of Burton’s movies(i forget which) but they were busy with the ultimate album Disintegration at the time.

I think that’s mainly coz all the teenage goths who used to listen to The Cure’s early stuff have now grown out of it and are in their 30s and 40s. They still listen to it and attend gigs but in a more conservative manner. You can’t grow out of The Cure. Plus I agree that you cannot compare them. It’s completely different. In my opinion Johnny Depp is the greatest actor ever.

hell yes! you win. they both rock so hard, and both are aiming to be dark and spooky. as for those of you who don’t think The Cure has a large following, you’re an imbecile. I went to see them in 2008 at Madison Square Garden.. and there was a mindblowing number of people there.. and guess what?

Most of them weren’t “emo/goth” kids.
Alot of them were very conservative adults.
Loads of very conservative people who listen to mainstream rock can still dig
darkwave and altrock like The Cure and Depeche Mode. I know of plenty.

I like Johnny Depp and Robert Smith and The Cure. Robert Smith has had that same look for a looong time, it is his stage persona. The Cure has been a successful and great band for a long time. Whether you like them or not, they have been very successful and have been so for many years, not an easy task for a rock band. Johnny Depp is an actor, and that picture is from a role he played, and actually played well. He is quite good at playing quirky roles. I don’t think either Robert Smith or Johnny Depp needs to be considered good or bad at the expense of the other. I personally like both men, respect and enjoy their work, and think both are attractive and sexy. So there, neener neener.

Tim Burton has publically said in an interview that the image of Edward Scissorhands was very much inspired by Robert Smith. The photo should be reversed as to show the obvious inspiration, not the time paradox and misinformation.
