no he wasn’t. his brother was half jewish (different father). he once said something along the lines that “he only wished to have been so priviledged” (when being asked if he was jewish) . above all Chaplin was a humanist. he concidered himself a citizen of the world. never labeled himself as being part of a specific background or religion. but his mother was christian. he grew up going to christian church as a child.

yep that is REALLY Charlie Chaplin. Even now he remains the most noticeable cinematic icon in history world wide, and most people don’t know what he looked like sans make-up. He was quite handsome and i knew jon stewart reminded me of someone !!

The two could not be further apart in appearance, talent or achievements.

I don’t know what went wrong with Jon Stewart, but he’s been “phoning it in” for a year or more. Even when he has tremendous guests, the interviews are tedious and dull — and the guests can’t help but reveal their own disappointment, you can see them winding up the six or seven minute segment with body language that says “that was torture … it seemed like an hour trapped talking with a witless cousin at a wedding reception.”

It’s a shame because, hell, what else is on TV and Colbert runs hot and cold — he should have had a slam-dunk week with shows from Iraq, but it felt horribly, painfully awkward and strained as if he was afraid to put a foot wrong yet the audience was giving him unlimited support. I’m sure he’ll cringe when he comes back and watches the tape. Bravo to the military in the audience, they are a proud sight to behold.

I’ve always thought that Jon looked like a young Chaplin. Too bad he wasn’t famous when they made the movie. He resembles him so much more than RD Jr. did.

Jon’s chin is more prominent. Charlie’s eyes are fiercer.

Sure, the chins are different and JOn’s lips are pursed into a smile so his EXPRESSION is different….but the ears, nose, cheek bones, forehead ridges and hair line are all identical! We’ve got a reincarnation here. Charlie back to be taken more seriouslly and outspoken, hence the more prominent chin…

I told people about this phenomenon a long time ago. Nobody else could see the resemblance but me. I’ve been a huge Chaplin fan since I was a kid back in the early 1960′s. The first time I saw Jon Stewart on the scene back in the late 80′s I thought they must some how be related. Now I am just convinced that Stewart is somehow “channeling” Chaplin. Way to go Kamala for submitting these fotos!
