Yeah, “actresses” like Ellen DeGeneris and Rosie O’Donnell, who don’t want to be categorized as female. It’s not about being secondary to men. It’s about being gender-ambiguous. Yes, WE DO usually refer to ACTRESSES as actresses and it’s perfectly acceptable to do so. It is in fact, rather irritating to see women constantly gender-stripped. Females are GIRLS and most of us are proud of it.

As for the airline staff, they are not called stewards or stewardesses anymore. They are called flight attendants.

I think at some point someone decided that having a gender specific term was sexist so now actresses have to be referred to as actors (although I refuse to do so). It’s the same way you can’t have an air stewardess, they all have to be referred to as air stewards now…

Who knows what the PC loonies would do if they found out many languages (like French or German) have specific genders for words…
