If you’re on Facebook, check out or join the Group called JAMES FRANCO IS THE REINCARNATION OF JAMES DEAN that’s on there. I am a fan and know way more than I should about both actors and I got chills when I saw Franco play Dean in that HBO movie. Uncanny. He was a look-alike in every single frame of that. He deserved that Golden Globe, hands down bar none.

I agree. They definetly look alike otherwise James Franco wouldn’t have even been thought of to play James Dean. And majority rules – James Franco is way finer. He is sexy as hell! I realized that in Spiderman and he wasn’t even playing a sexy role. It just comes natural. Damn!

James Dean was different things to different people. At his funeral, there was confusion among some of the crowd. Some said he was gay, some said he was completely straight, and others said he was bisexual. It’s hard to say because Jimmy was so dedicated to the art of acting that he wanted to completely immerse himself in other lifestyles to feel as much as he could feel by being another person. I believe James Dean was torn, and in his later years could have had a disassociated sexual personality disorder, but i could be completely wrong. R.I.P. James B. Dean

but, James Franco’s face is completely unattractive to me and seems to reflect nothing… and James Dean’s face is always in a natural sort of mysterious brooding. James Franco’s features are like a less refined version of James Dean’s, his nose is larger and not as straight, his eyes are less piercing, his mouth isn’t as plump, and he has much more severe creases around his mouth than James Dean who kept the eternal 23 year old look of youth and virility in just the right amounts.

I kinda think that a young Benico Del Toro looks more like James Dean.
James Franco is a gorgeous man, and did one of the best impersonations of Dean, compared to a lot of poor attempts from other actors, but I give his acting more credit, than the production in this film. I think Franco was limited by the slow moving film and history jumps. Not his fault by any means. On the appearance, James Franco to me does resemble Dean somewhat, but his teeth and smile are nothing like Dean’s, he’s too thin, because JD was a farmboy, and was fattened up when he went out to New York. Hair & Make-up techs did a fantastic job as a transformation. But moody looks, scowls and eccentric behavior can turn any pouting handsome prettyboy into a pompadour prince. Franco has some similar features, and two of the main features, is the fact that he is good looking and he was around 21 when this film was being produced. Other than that, his acting of Dean is great with the moody improv, and the little prince clown.
I wasn’t a fan of the camera angles, as they seem to have taken the star quality out of Franco and somehow blended Franco in like he was trying too hard. Not Franco’s fault at all. Franco get’s a B+ for acting, he get’s a B- on looks, and the film get’s a C-. The film was more slow, and didn’t center enough around Jimmy’s world of eccentricity and excitement. James Dean was a real person yes, but he was very borderline with so many different sides to himself, that one group of friends didn’t know the person he portrayed with other group that had no idea about the other group. Jimmy wanted to be everything, and everyone to get the feel of life, and if you can feel what life is through everybody’s eyes, including through the eyes of an animal, than you are ready to experience the stage.
yes Benico Del Toro has the same enerygy signature of Dean and is doing many of the same compex films Dean would have done had he lived

James Franco is a totally underrated actor. I saw him in James Dean years ago, and being a Dean fan I was blown away by his portrayal! I have been a Franco fan ever since. What I don’t get is the jealousy and the haters that just have to voice their two cent comments (so unattractive!)

I don’t watch a certain actor to know what his personal life is, I watch an actor because he or she is a great actor, and James Franco is a great actor!

I think james dean greatest appeal was the fact that he was hot and didnt even know it. Incredible actor as well. both james are extremely good looking and i love to watch james franco mainly for the resemblence. every time i watch him i look for little things he does and says like james dean and he does some times.
