It’s actually technically considered correct to refer to female performers as actors instead of actresses. All a matter of personal choice.
I would have thought the more applicable description would have been “comidienne”? Unless, of course, you don’t find her funny… I do miss her show, though.
Many women would rather be called an actor. There is kind of a higher status with that. I don’t think Rosie Deserves a higher status…
I think as has been pointed out, it’s not the gender issue (actor vs actress), but the fact that the majority of Rosie’s career has been as a comedienne.
