Addiction is NOT a disease. Crohn’s Disease is a disease. Addiction is a choice. When I drank heavily I CHOSE to do so out of depression. Then one day I CHOSE to stop drinking until I was black out drunk. I rarely ever drink now. I do on occasion, but I CHOSE not to get wasted. Addiction is a behavior not a disease. There are NO psychologists who would agree with that mumbo jumbo. By calling addiction a disease, you are taking away one’s responsibility for one’s actions. It’s a cowards way out. The brave thing to do is face it head on, and you don’t do that by blaming it on something else. Amy CHOSE to be this way.
