    First !

  2. Faldone says:

Where did they get a color photo of Copernicus?

    • Justin Miller says:

      I wondered the same thing…

      • EinsteinCat says:

No need to worry people. I went back in time and took a picture. But unfortunately he was completely stoned by the time of my arrival.

        • hamsterman says:

facial reconstruction software. They found the guy’s skull, dug it up, then did that computery thing to it like they do on CSI. kinda cool really

    • inked_hippie says:

      My first thought as well

    • devin says:

“A computerized portrait, released Thursday by Polish police, reconstructs the face of a man whose skull was found buried in a cathedral in the northern city of Frombork. Archaeologists believe the skull was that of the 16th-century astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus.”

    • Malisyn says:

Yeah, unfortunately this is nothing more than forensics at work. Impressive as it may be, I don’t think you can use it as a look-a-like. Though, in all honesty, the reconstructed Copernicus does look suspiciously like Cromwell.

  3. AndreaJN says:

Since Nicolaus Copernicus died in 1543, I don’t know who that guy on the left is.

  4. Bob C says:

I’m guessing it has to be some sort of computer-created model?

  5. Cecona says:

Whether the photo on the left is really Copernicus or not….I dont see how these two look anything alike.

  6. cybely says:

Not really, other than the fact they are both shrivelled old white guys.

  7. Peej says:

    How about not even close.

  8. Vizh says:

Seriously… you people don’t see the resemblance? That’s mind-boggling to me. The proportions of the eyes/nose/mouth all are frighteningly close. I doubt a computer reconstruction from Cromwell’s own skull could look more like him. Understandably, I doubt he’d be up for the test…

    • hamsterman says:

Eh, the proportions are similar. The problem is there’s just nothing clever about it. No moment, of “holy crap” or “Hah, I never thought of that” about the two. They’re just…similar.

  9. Karyn says:

James Cromwell looks like actor Hugh Fraser. Anyone watch the Poirot specials with David Suchet? Fraser always played Captain Hastings. I thought this was a photo of him until I read the caption!

  10. Blackup says:

    No, I am Spartacus!

  11. AbbeyRoad says:

Eh, I can see it but the picture of James Cromwell isn’t a perfect match, however if you see his movies it’s more obvious I suppose…. also Copernicus’ eyes look like Peter Faulk’s

  12. megs says:

Gerard Depardeau would have been a better choice.

  13. Locke says:

The one on the right is getting that ‘popsicles in the cellar little boy’ look in his eye again. I call it the PITCLB look. I’ve seen him in women’s clothing as well. Mine.

  14. PistolPete says:

    Copernicus was not polish.

  15. That priest is going to touch someone, one way or another. Look at the glazed, pouty-gonna-kiss-you-then-chase-you-around-tickling-your-butthole-giggling humplegs look in his eye. Hide your altar boys.. =/

  16. munchy365 says:

    AAYY YO COPERNICUS!

    • LΦcke δ┴ says:

That’s it?¿ I’ve owned this thread. See you there.

      • Sky says:

It’s kind of silly for other people to take credit for something I did, because I was bored. But, I used a different picture of Cromwell in my post. It was one of those chance things, where I saw this computerized, aged, reconstruction drawing they did after finding Copernicus skull and other bones several years ago. In 2008 they confirmed it was Copernicus, by matching DNA with hairs found in a book that was owned by Copernicus. A yahoo article featured the picture and the story. When I saw the drawing, I thought it looked like the veteran actor James Cromwell (I didn’t know his name, only the movies he’d been in), So I looked him up and then I made the look alike page. I know it wasn’t on icanhascheezburger.com, when I first posted it, because I looked for it. I know, It’s a stupid thing to want to credit for, but why take credit for such an abscure lookalike, if you didn’t actually do it first? Even when I did it, I knew I was reaching way back. I did a lame thing and now people want to take credit for it. That is the ultimate in lameness

  17. ARTYFISHALL says:

I know if you was to put them on each end of a stick, you’d have a pretty good pick axe.

  18. adav84 says:

This doesn’t work, but only because the guy on the left is not what most people (presumably) think Copernicus looked like. When I hear Copernicus, I imagine this: (click), and I think so do most people.
