    I’d slap the parents.
In the face! In the face!

    • nightlyeclipse says:

How do they still have custody of her? I think feeding your child FAR too much is the same as starving them. The picture is the case in point. WOW!

Don’t you think there’d be a point when you look at the size of your child and say “No Honey, you can’t have fourths tonight.” Seriously, FIVE times the average weight?!

      • Z says:

Dude, I’ve seen this kid on tv before on medical shows (discovery health), and it’s not solely due to over eating. (If at all.) In some extreme cases it REALLY IS a bizarre metobolic issue causing the body to create body fat out of almost everything.

Sure, they could probably try starving her completely so there’s no intake and thus nothing to turn to fat, but, call me crazy, that would also be child abuse of the opposite end that they’re being accused of.

        • i agree..id much rather slap the people who jump to all kind of conclusions about neglect and the like WITHOUT KNOWING THE FULL STORY…

          • nightlyeclipse says:

While I agree that there are cases out there that causes this due to some disease not all of them are like that. I was referring to the cases where the parents just give the kid whatever he/she wants no matter what. I’ve seen a few of the shows Maury has done on this subject and there’s the parents sitting up there and the mother is crying and saying “I just can’t say no to him/her!” So the child just ends up eating and eating because they haven’t learned when to stop and their parents haven’t taught them. That is the kind of abuse I’m talking about, not the ones that have a legitimate disease.

            • matt says:

Maury is the one that needs to be b1tch slapped. Putting that kid on there
knowing people will be gawking and pointing… all for the sake of his ratings.

            • 3.14R@ says:

Ah yes; the parents, teaching. Today that’s almost an oxymoron. All this pandering to the little monsters is creating just that, monsters. Sociopathic homicidal maniac children that don’t care about anybody but themselves and satisfying their wants. By the time they grow up the only discipline they will learn is actually a law of physics a bullet between their eyes will be the only cure for the public safety risk they pose. Their minors, there’s no recourse for them everybody that crosses their path are live purely by chance and whim.
Somebody indeed should slap many of these parents, first you have to get their attention.
Then take the entire family in for rehab and retraining. Preferably before the rest of us have to pay with our lives.

I totally agree with you. I mean I have a little cousin who is pretty athletic so he
isn’t overweight, yet. His parents and my other two aunts let him eat whatever he wants whenever he wants it. It doesn’t matter if the stuff that they are feeding him is rotting his teeth out of his head. No, all that matters is if he’s happy. He’s probably going to have dentures by the time he’s ten. That’s just like what this little girl went through. Her parents didn’t tell her no, and now her teeth are probably messed up and she is way overweight. I feel bad for her, not because she didn’t stop eating, but because her parents obviously didn’t care enough about her to tell her to stop.

          • plaster says:

Do you know the full story, thecomebackgirl?
            *slaps thecomebackgirl in the face*

          • fade2BLACK says:

Pardon me, but considering i watched this episode about 3 times, i think id no that that iz where (at least the majority [not doubting there is soming internaly rong wit her])comes from, over eating. Not just over feeding because kids are sneaky! She could be getting fed god nos how much at preschool, sneaking god nos how much in morn, etc!

        • PJ says:

You are right – I have a cousin with this disorder and even though we are the same height and age, she outweighs me by 200%. She takes in about 1000 calories per day, all healthy stuff, but couldn’t seem to lose the weight. They finally found the right combination of drugs, and her size dropped dramatically over the last few years.

I hope they find an answer for this little girl.

        • will says:

this girl does not have an extremely rare condition. it’s the parents fault. she was on a maury follow-up show and with the help of dieticians she has started to lose some of the weight. let’s hear your next excuse, couch doctor!!! You probably have a morbidly obese child yourself or you are one.

      • phil says:

Feeding your child too much and starving them isn’t the same thing… it’s actually the exact opposite…

        Let me clarify…

Starving your children = you don’t feed them.
Over feeding your child = you over feed your child.

I hope this information helps you.

        • aDORKable :) says:

Yeah that makes sense of course, but I think what that person meant is that both are still a form of not taking care of your child properly. Yes they aren’t the same thing but they both are the same way not taking care of the child.

The two cars go around the corner and they like catch each other
they start to roll. The tire flys into the stands, hit’s a woman in the face!
And when you first saw it you were like OOOOOO!
That tire just hit that woman in the in the face!
Oh good they’re showin’ it again Look Look Look Look at this right here.
Slow it down..yeah that’s when it hits her in the face.
And the funny thing is everybody around the lady like dove out of there.
Everyone got out of there but she just like sits there like.
You see everyone dives and at the last minute as the tire is rocketing at her
face. This is her defense. She goes OOOOO!
Like she’s just gonna get in a slap fight with a Goodyear.

  2. Pheemz says:

Erm, yeah… how the hell are the parents still holding onto that kid. That’s gotta be child abuse, surely?

  3. Sir Gallivant says:

I think the show host is Maury, the child is probably Jessica.

  4. Sir Gallivant says:

Right, forget everything after “good morning”, it does say 5 y.o. ON Maury. Don’t mind me….

  5. Name (required) says:

Oh man! Please tell me this is due to a rare disease and not over-eating!!

    • bspinky says:

sadly, its due to overeating and that the parents have no control. Kid cries for food and parent gives in. i’ve seen a few of these shows and its disgusting…breakfast would include 3 bowls of cereal, 8 glasses of OJ, 5 bananas a stack of pancakes w/syrup and butter, toast, and more….for a 5yr old….

it’s disgusting and its abuse. those kids are the worst kind of spoiled because their parents don’t know how to say “no.” being a parent of 2 kids myself, it makes me tear up whenever i see the parents on there crying because of the situation THEY put their kids in, then they blame it on the kid because s/he is always crying for food….

sorry parents but your kids won’t starve to death if they miss that 4th cheeseburger or 3rd pizza at lunch….

      • Hell Hath No Fury says:

I will save my typical snarky cynicism to say that this truly makes me sick and sad. I have an 8 yr old daughter. I don’t think I could live if I did that to my child. it’s disabling her for life! She will also be an outcast and treated cruelly by her peers. The parents are so busy caring about thier little hobbies and own laziness and would rather ‘give her what she wants to shut her up’ rather than take her to the park or camping, anything, just give her some attention! The mothers are always *dare I say it* cows too, self-indulgent and resentful of thier child needing them. And then expecting Maury or some doctor to temporarily fix it so they won’t have to do anyhting themselves. TYhose poor kids will NOT get older and change, because thier parents won’t give them the opportunity to go outside and get involved, and they know that momma or dad is going to sit on the couch and yell at them and make them feel guilty if they ask to do anyhting physical. These kids need to be taken away. Most of these ARE NOT freak hormone imbal;ances. They are pure laziness and hatred on the parents part. They need to be given to parents who have been wanting kids, and can’t have them, vs parents who have the kids and dont want them. Sending them back home is like sending them to prison. What’s wrong with CPS workers watching this?

      • yupps says:

If you read the comment above, this particular child’s problem is not being overfed. I agree that some parents need to take more control, but this is clearly not one of those cases. Best not to leap to assumptions.

        • nickj says:

Look it up before you tell someone they are wrong.
Best not to leap to assumptions.

        • GasWeasel says:

Anyone who looks like this, it’s ALWAYS from being overfed. I agree, there are metabolic diseases, but the worst genetic disorder ever can’t break the laws of thermodynamics. The amount of energy stored by the body is, at maximum, the amount of energy taken in by diet minus the amount of energy expended by exercisee.

If someone is storing so much fat as to look this big after only 5 years of life, then it should have been caught earlier, and diet restricted or exercise increased. It might be a pain in the ass for the parents and child involved to have to live on a regimen of low calorie diet or high energy exercise, but it’s no different than the regimen of someone who has diabetes and has to eat a controlled diet and take injections when warranted.

      • Nilla says:

Overeating? Are you sure because I’ve seen a lot about that kid and each time I’ve seen something about her they pretty much say its because of her extremely strange (but serious) metabolic rate. Her body just creates fat out of everything she eats- not overeating.
Maybe they was wrong, and you’re right- just saying what I saw.

    • PACO-TACO says:

this is due to a rare disease and not over-eating!!

    • Michael says:

It’s due to a rare disease and not over-eating. (Aw man Ed, Edd, ‘n Eddy moment.)

  6. freudian slit says:

I think in 2007 she was up to 400 lbs. at the age of seven.
The parents should have put a stop to it before her weight reached 200 lbs.

  7. Alison says:

Absolutely disgusting. And guess what – your tax dollars
will be at work paying for this…girl’s? (hard to tell) medical
    problems.

    • That Hippie Chick says:

be nice! why would our tax dollars pay for this obviously female child’s medical??

Gosh, people are so insensitive these days.

  8. This guy over here says:

    Her name’s Jessica, not Maury.

  9. troll says:

Wow. 5 year old kid is able to feel village of 50 cannibals.. next on Jerry Springer…

  10. flip says:

    “I can haz cheezburger?”

  11. Alyssa says:

    How is she even ALIVE?

    • Mo says:

There are people who weigh almost 600 hundred pounds, and they’re alive.
But, when they got by-pass, they pretty much died after losing most of the weight. It’s kind of sad.

  12. sally says:

    This is child abuse.
    Simple.
(here come all the idiots with “it’s
perfectly o.k. for little kids to be fat…”)
    ?
When this poor kid is 15, she’ll be on insulin, and
probably heart, cholesterol, and blood pressure stuff too!
Not to mention the back problems.
She’ll need a Rascal, for sure!
How much do we wanna bet that Mom is in about as good
    of a condition?

  13. Paula says:

    Poor girl.

  14. lilmoon says:

Can we get a picture of the parents to make fun of instead of this poor child???? A 5 year old doesn’t know any better- so its not right to make fun of them. The parents on the other hand- they are fair game. More than fair.

  15. Rontu says:

OMG how is that child alive??

  16. Rontu says:

Actually, she looks more like Java the Hut than the michelin man.

  17. DenisFC says:

    So sad…

Click on my name for a tease of this episode. I dont know if we can find the whole show on the net… If someone, maybe, find, post it plz.

    • DenisFC says:

Ok maybe we cant, but i just want to know the whole story if someone know. I dont want to laught at her, i just feel curious.

  18. ~K-Dog~ says:

    http://boards.nbcuni.com/MauryShow/index.php?showtopic=352&hl=jessica

As of 2007 she had lost pretty much all the weight.

    • bspinky says:

wow so child services DID take her away after the show. makes me wonder though, why no one else thought to call CPS before that poor kid was brought onto the stage. It’s good to know that she’s lost the weight at least.

    • SwantonDiva says:

What a very pretty girl she turned out to be! I’m glad this story had a happy ending. It always make me sad to hear about these poor children.

    • Hell Hath No Fury says:

THANK GOD!!!!!!! My fam took in foster kids for awhile while I was little, and it made me sick to see many of them go back to the parents, just knowing they’d be in the news later. Some of them were, and mot situations never improved. This girl really got a second chance.

    • Da truth says:

I’m really glad she’s doing better.

  19. flower108055 says:

    That picture makes me sick!

  20. Amanda says:

What do the parents look like?

  21. notmenoway says:

I am willing to take that child and deal with the temper tantrums. Although, I don’t think she will fit in my van.

    Biggest Loser…kid edition!

  22. AbbeyRoad says:

This picture doesnt’ make me sick, the fact that someone used it as something to be funny does. It’s really sad to me. This kids parents should be made fun of not the child.

  23. Quintus says:

Omw…this is some bad stuff…nothing I can add except that…well…uhh..shame man! It’s almost as bad as the parents who made their child a vegan at the age of 2 days by feeding him soy milk…he died a few months later. Atleast they are in jail now but seriously. Also, it’s now also clear that kids who tease “fat” kids should look at this and think again. I wish some people would just grow up.

  24. Jillian says:

The two things I think of when I see this picture: “Good sweet Jesus, what’s wrong with her parents?” and “Oh God, the Michelin Man. o.o”

    • purpletabby says:

Not, “OMG, how could someone make fun of this poor little girl?”

      • Lynn Nexus says:

You know… The whole care troll ting is really not doing it for me. Can we troll something different?

Especialy because the person you’re trolling has already mentioned how terrible it is that this child -was- that fat. BTW she’s not that fat anymore and apparetnly has a good sense of humor… So stuff it.

  25. Operator says:

Holy crap…the expression on that kid’s face makes you wonder if she’s not about to drop Maury in to the Rancor Pit or demand that someone bring her Solo and the Wookie to pay for this outrage.

    • thisGuy says:

^FTW. I would also like to believe that most of the loling is about how the kid looks like the Michelin Man and/or Jabba the Hut. She sure as hell didn’t choose to look like that, so yes, either a disease or the parents should be put to blame for this.

    • Hell Hath No Fury says:

you mean solo and a cookie
and yes, the parents need a good whack, this poor girl has no choice but to act the selfish way she has been taught to by her lovely example of a mother.

      • mrs. thompson says:

Haha no no no- it should be bring me hoho & a cookie.

I watched this episode of maury by the way & I wanted to punch the parents for being lazy & take that poor poor girl for myself…

I hope she really has lost weight, I can’t see videos on the web w/ my phone so I can’t look it up…

  26. Meanies! says:

That’s really nice, making fun of a 5-year-old CHILD! Slap the parents for abuse and for setting a bad example, but don’t be mean to the girl. She has lost 320 pounds since CPS got involved.

  27. caprisunandcheezits says:

Oh, please. She really does look like Michelen Man. Your “outrage” is misguided… as um… this is a lol site. Perhaps you could instead get involved in your local community! Or write to CNN and see if they care.

    (They don’t either)

  28. CarmenT says:

The kid is not a normal child just heinously overfed. They have to give the child Topamax in order to quell her food cravings – oh and the med is an appetite suppressant extraordinaire. I took it for another issue (it can be used for medical problems such as migraines) and food becomes pretty boring – and some of it tastes nasty on Topamax.
The bonus? Serious cognitive problems. It has the doctor’s nickname of Dopamax for a reason….

    • Lisa says:

Its actually an anti-siezure medication that has an “off-label” application as a weight loss drug. In addition to the cognitive side effects, it also destroys your liver. They should have put her on a ketogenic diet to “cure” her appetite problem instead of throwing pills at her.

      • CarmenT says:

Amen sister. That’s what finally did it for me! Amazing what the right diet for a individual can do. “Regular American Diet” = fat Carmen. “Low Carb diet” = normal Carmen, and kick butt blood test results for almost 10 years now. :-)

  29. Vhoscythe42 says:

That’s nothing short of disgusting…For crying out loud, I’m a fourteen year old guy at 5’10″ and I thought my being 130 pounds was pretty heavy!

And I know I shouldn’t be critiguing people less fortunate than me, but she’s not exactly a pretty face anyway, even without the fat (which was all but removed in 2007). Also, now she has all that excess skin just…sitting there.

How could parents be so ignorant?

“Honey, this is the seventh quart of ice cream you’ve eaten this week…I think you should probably-”
    “NO! I’m STILL NOT FULL!”
“Honey, you’re five times the average toddler weight and-”
“YOU’RE SO UNFAIR! JENNY’S MOM DOESN’T TELL HER WHEN TO STOP EATING!! waaaaaahhhhh!!”
“Oh-okay, honey!! Please don’t cry, I’ll go buy another five gallons!!”

    • hlyshtvwls says:

‘kay, first of all, 130 pounds is not overweight for 5’10″. Are you anorexic or something?

Secondly, if you’d read the comments, you’d see that this girl DID have an abnormal metabolism, which was treated with the dangerous drug Topamax. Should the mother have sought medical treatment earlier? Probably. But part of the problem was that no one would look at what was really wrong, they just wanted to blame the parents and say the girl should go on a diet, which was unhelpful.

In regards to “overfeeding” her, it’s pretty much impossible to overfeed a normal child that much. If you tried to, the child would cry that they were full and beg for you to stop. They might even throw up. My metabolism causes me to eat shocking amounts of food, but I also maintain a healthy weight because I burn calories like nobody’s business. If I’m forced to eat normal amounts of food, I quickly become dizzy and can black out, and lose a dress size in two weeks. This child’s metabolism was broken because her body demanded more calories than it could use. This can happen even when the person is not eating a lot of food: it’s simply a question of how much you’re using. Starving the child is not the answer; fixing the metabolism so she isn’t always hungry is.

But it’s easier to just lean on ignorant stereotypes, isn’t it?

Note that the girl (on medication) is back with her mother, and not regaining the weight.

      • DeFlora says:

Uhhhmmmm, hlyshtvwls, are you relying on the comments section for the FACTS on this case? Why not go back and check the links to the videos and newspaper articles about this particular child.

She’s fat because her mother allowed her to eat, she’s hungry CONSTANTLY. I was thinking that she may have a damaged or malfunctioning anterior vagus nerve (the nerve which signals fullness) or a possible cholecystokinin release malfunction. The child never feels full, so her mother continued to let her graze endlessly, and not on the best of choices for weight maintenance. While she may indeed have an actual medical problem, her mother’s ignorance and treatment of her daughter and that problem are nothing short of criminal.

Please try reviewing all the facts on an issue before you attack others’ comments with sentences such as: “But it’s easier to just lean on ignorant stereotypes, isn’t it?” You’ve displayed your own ignorance in your stereotypical emotionally charged attack on Vhoscythe42 .

      • DeFlora says:

        Ahhh, sweet!
Did you know that the greatest debaters of our time have won every point winding up and calling their opponents dumbasses? I’ve been SO bested. I concede.

      • DeFlora says:

I just realized what happened here, you didn’t comprehend that I wasn’t talking to YOU at all! In fact, if you read correctly, I had actually DEFENDED you. Did you read this line that was TO hlyshtvwls, who attacked you? I said to THAT person: “You’ve displayed your own ignorance in your stereotypical emotionally charged attack on Vhoscythe42 .” For which you in turn attacked ME! Interesting.

You still win, though, because calling anyone a “dumbass” trumps all logic. Crazy has no rules, crazy ALWAYS wins.

        • Observer says:

… I normally don’t speak around here, but I think something of a misunderstanding has occurred here… Based on the way I see the comments have nested, Vhoscythe wasn’t talking to you at all, just adding a reply to what hlyshtvwls had said before. I think you’ve become insulted for no good reason, though I have to agree, falling to name-calling is an immature way to carry out an argument… just like your sarcasm and calling him crazy. I suggest calming down before you reply like that, if you don’t want to be taken for a hypocrite.

But that’s just an observer’s opinion.

          • DeFlora says:

I never called anyone crazy. I made a general statement regarding craziness. “Crazy has no rules, crazy ALWAYS wins.” If I can be accused of calling anyone anything, it can be inferred that I called the practice of debating with name calling as a technique to be illogical.

            • Observer says:

Alright then, that might have been my misunderstanding… Still, crazy and illogical are not the same; one is a completely errant state of mind, and an insult, an the other is a simple lack of rhetorical purity. One should not use them interchangeably. It can also easily be inferred that your ‘general statement’ was directed at him, since you wouldn’t be making random generalized comments at the end of your posts, now would you?

And you still neglect the fact that he might not have been, in fact, making a reply to you, in which case your snarky attitude was completely uncalled for in the first place…

    • greengobline says:

“And I know I shouldn’t be critiguing people less fortunate than me, but she’s not exactly a pretty face anyway,”

Criticising or critiquing? Either way, ego much, dear boy?

Actually, I think she has turned into a very pretty girl. And due to her parents..mistreatment, she had to deal with the problems instilled by lousy training and no self-control from her earliest days and very likely health problems, asides from that waste skin, which will, hopefully, eventually go, if there’s enough elasticity in the skin, the former two of which which will work against her. Poor kid, glad she’s doing well now.

      • Vhoscythe42 says:

If I was that pretentious, I would’ve made reference to how pretty my face was, even though it’s mediocre at best. And I did put thought into writing that sentence, since I usually find that people who go out of their way to call themselves humble are usually the most conceited of all.

        • Vhoscythe42 says:

P.S. I was too lazy to do a Google spellcheck, so I just tried to spell the word according to how it sounded: it was supposed to be “critiquing”.

  30. Glowworm says:

When I first saw this picture I didn’t laugh at all-however I did mistakenly think that it was contestant on “The Biggest Loser” My eyes nearly did a 360 when they read that it was actually a 5 year old girl. I’m glad that she’s doing much better now. However I see nothing humorous in this lookalike.

  31. Pirate says:

She so fat she got her own gravitational pull!

  32. Jo says:

This is what happens when parents give their children things and or food instead of Time and Love. This little girl will likely be emotionally scarred for life, because her parents just couldn’t be bothered to give a damn. She likely equates food with love, much the same way as torture and physical abuse survivors equate the treatment they survived as acceptable for them because that is all they know. Also, can we say Stokholm Syndrone????

  33. iggy says:

AH! 5 year olds aren’t supposed to look like that!
Also, what has she been eating?
    *second personality takes over*
    Too much!
    *first personality usurps keyboard*
    Shut it, you…

  34. Kelly says:

some people really don´t deserve to be parents…

  35. Michelle says:

    um…not funny

  36. cunfuzzlement says:

I think she’s actually lost quite a bit of weight. At least 200 pounds.

  37. toribug says:

    what in god’s name……
    that’s disgusting!!
i agree with the first guy, the parents need a good slap!

  38. Hell Hath No Fury says:

Nice to know that when my premature daughter, who was 14 oz at birth, was only 30 lbs in kindergarten, CPS came knocking at my door, thinking I was abusing her. Nope, just tiny, but you could not see her ribs. She’s 8 now and 62 lbs, but her doc still questions me about not feeding her enough. Steak, veggies, venison, home garden food, etc. no fast food unless we’re out and it’s neccessary, but THESE people were never checked up on before it became public outrage. Nice work, CPS

    • zhuks says:

I think prematureness has nothing to do with a tiny frame though. I myself was born 2 months early and was maybe not as tiny (2 kg), but still nurse did misjudge my age for some time at the check-ups. I certainly made it up later as a quite strongly built girl. So I’d say a delicate frame or opposite has no connection with the weight at birth. And even also later, a friend of mine is very thin, but she says her mum had her looking like a little Buddha around age of 1.

As far as I remember, the syndrome of unstoppable eating was called the Prader-Willi syndrome (quite rare disorder) and the person afflicted can eat himself/herself to death. But it takes some stubborness for parents to realise that such appetite is somewhat out of the limits of normal.

    • Tricia says:

Actually, 62 pounds at 8 years old sounds perfectly normal to me…My 8-year-old son weighs about 66 pounds (may be a little more now, he’s been going through a growth spurt) but they actually told me he’s on the HIGH end of the weight chart for his age (he’s also very tall for his age.) Obviously your daughter is just very petite, sounds like you are doing a fantastic job. :)

  39. Douch says:

That’s sick. That’s just really really sick. Anf sad. I can’t laugh at this.

  40. DEE says:

I’M SORRY THIS CROSSES THE LINE, EXPLOITING 5 YEAR OLD! I ENJOY THIS WEBSITE, BUT THIS JUST IS NOT RIGHT. THERE’S PLENTY OF NOTED ADULTS KNOWINGLY DOING STUPID STUFF WHO DESERVE TO BE EXPLOITED, BUT NOT A 5 YEAR OLD CHILD WHO IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO HER. HER FAT A** PARENTS ARE THE REAL CRIMINALS IN THIS CASE!

    • Xen0 says:

Sense of humor. Get one. It was Maury and this girl’s MOTHER who exploited her in the first place. You’re right, the parent is the real criminal here, the kid was the victim…WAS. Mom got a reality check, kid’s doing better, and this picture is PAST TENSE. Because she was showed off like a circus freak on Maury, she will be subject to this sort of crap for the rest of her life.

Even so, this LOL was still funny to me, because I saw this episode when it first aired. Gut reaction was “DUDE! Kid’s gonna die on stage,” but seeing this now and knowing she’s lost that weight made it to where I could laugh at this comparison. It wasn’t a personal slight against the girl in question…it was just the fact she did (DID) indeed resemble the Michelin Man :\

  41. Jessi says:

While I don’t think the lol is appropriate, I’m really glad to see the transformation she has made, so thank you to those who posted the HELPFUL comments with links instead of the DUMBASS comments about how disgusting and sick it is.

  42. Alee says:

thats EXTREMELY rude! sure she looks like it, but thats really rude! what if that girl SAW this lolpic? srsly.

    alee

  43. MJ says:

The girls name is Jessica Leonard and she has lost all the weight since then, child protective services made the mother take parenting classes on nutrition. Click my name.

  44. Marya says:

I’m going to say it slowly so we all understand. The child was born with a (rare) medical problem. She now takes some very strong and possibly toxic medication to control it.

She is not bad, her parents are not bad.

Furthermore, being obese in neither a sin nor a moral outrage. Not a crime or a social faux pas. Being obese in a condition brought on in different people, but different things.

I don’t mind so much the silly comparison to the Michelin Man so much as I am annoyed about the umbrage and the sanctimonious finger pointing. Who are we to cast stones, what would any of us have done it our child had a serious physiological problem that made her and ourselves the object of such public contempt. What we have done if we had no insurance to diagnose the problem or social safety net to help resolve it. At four AM when the child is wailing and weeping because she is famished, again, we might feed her just to end her misery.

  45. Chowderb says:

Not gonna laugh. Its her decision. AND her parents’ to. maybe its a disease. who cares!? dont resemble an obese human to the michelin man. michelin man has way 2 many rolls, even if she is big, she cant outmatcxh the michelin man with rolls.

  46. Remzy says:

First, id like to agree that this isnt the kind of crap i come here for, yes i do have a sense of humour, but this isnt even remotly funny. The parents should have got a clue way way sooner…

Second, no medical condition will make you grow 300lbs of fat out of thin air, you get fat from eating too much food/sugar, not because you have big bones or gland issues… its not physicaly possible to create something out of nothing, can we please stop the hypocrisy now, please, thank you.

  47. greengobline says:

    Gut reaction was “poor kid”..

Mhm, I can accept the points on the rare medical condition as brought up by a number of posters. However, the parents (if there is a father, then he’s to blame to, for heaven’s sake, it wasn’t all the mother if there were two parents involved!) are to blame in their handling of the situation and pandering to her temper. The child was not at fault, tantrums are natural if the child is not taught self control. And, on top of that, she was fed with (judging by that video) fatty crap, chips and burgers, which a 5 year old shouldn’t be eating anyway. Certainly not on a regular basis.

Chowderb: Kid’s 5, dude, not exactly her decision, what does she understand about chlorestrol and fat intake? All she understood was that she was hungry and her natural instinct to eat, and eat comfort food at that, helped.

The lol itself…pointed, cheap, cruel, true, witty and depressing – yes. Funny..no.

    • Marya says:

There is a rare medical condition, involving a problem with the hypothalamus, that causes the sick person to believe he or she is starving. It’s not a compulsion, and not the effect of over-indulgence. Children with this disease will resort to eating dirt or play-doh if that is all they can get their hands on.

We must, as a society, begin to consider our detest and revulsion of the obese, in the first place. Then, as moral actors, we must resist the (seemingly overwhelming) compulsion condemn the sick or blame the victim.

Some of you, I can read it in your tone, shudder at the fact of the child’s mere existence. Resist the urge of schadenfreude at the expense of others, it belittles ourselves.

      • DeFlora says:

I’m not saying this girl doesn’t have a medical condition, I’d agree that’s likely. However, in the videos I’ve seen of this child and her mother, her mother offered her a food she didn’t want and the child threw a tantrum. The mother was allowing the child to make the food choices, the girl refusing what she didn’t want to consume. Mostly what I saw were videos with the child eating burgers and fries in gigantic portions. I’m happy that her problem is being addressed medically, nutritionally and psychologically now, though from the most recent videos and reports it’s obvious she’ll have a lifetime iof hallenges ahead of her. I’m sure we’ll see and hear from and about her again.

      • greengobline says:

        Hi Marya,
I’m not sure if this comment was directly a reply to me or to the topic in general, but as it’s nested as a reply to me specifically, I’ll reply :P .

I did accept the illness, I did some research on the case before replying. I was saying that the illness was HANDLED wrong, not that it was merely a case of overfeeding. Her parents, in response to her illness, fed her the wrong things (according to the video, in which all you see her eating is stuff that would make anyone fat). She needed drug-treatment anyway, but the problem was exacerbated by her poor diet.

Here’s the bit I’m not sure was addressed to me or not, as I certainly didn’t mean to belittle the kid, and I don’t believe I did. I was entirely sympathetic to the awful situation that she and her family were in, and very glad that she is recovered now (or, at least, in control of her condition). The entire condition was nobody’s fault. The mis-treating of the illness (excessively poor diet), was to some extent her parents’ fault, but probably in direct response to her always being hungry due to the condition.

Mind you, in postscript, it is possible that the cameras deliberately picked up unhealthy food to show to emphasise the weight. Media sensationalism. Possible.

        gg

        • Marya says:

          Hello gg
Thank you for giving me the benefit of the doubt. I was in no way trying to indite you personally. I hope you understand and believe that. It is clearly the anonymity of postings like these that cause people to say terrible things that they can not take back.

Since I have become sick myself I have become radicalized and try never to judge. The irony is that my sickness is entirely opposite of this girl’s, I lost so much weight that for a while I was down to skin and bones. You would not be surprised, perhaps, to know how many people, seeing me at 105 lbs, with rings under my eyes, said “You look amazing, you look incredible, how did you loose so much weight?”

          • greengobline says:

Yes, the emphasis put on being thin, all that Size Zero crap is really rubbish. Personally, I don’t find the anorexic look attractive, and I’ve yet to meet a guy that does. It mostly seems to be women that press the look on themselves and each other.

I’m sorry to hear about your illness *hugs*! I hope you are getting better, Marya!

  48. KatehThaKitteh says:

Wow… for the first time I’m glad my parents made me eat my veggies…

  49. lulu says:

that is truly disgusting and to think shes only 5

  50. Burger says:

    I’D HIT IT!!!!

  51. Danelle says:

This LOL is kind of mean, but it’s accurate…she DOES totally look like the Michelin man.

  52. dbc132 says:

she doesn’t look like that anymore!!!

her mom sux btw for letting her get like that

  53. Allison says:

    dont laugh!!!
what if you were like that when you were 5?!
You should be ASHAMED of your self!!
    I slap you!

  54. David says:

    Hello Jessica:

I do not know what has happened in your life but God does love all the children and he loves you. I do not know if you can read but I think that you can only because strength is delivered to us in other ways. I would like to ask our lord for a miracle today! Open your hearts and pray for Jessica right now!. Jessica you are a miracle that Christ created and if anyone can help he will do it!

People pray for this precious child to be saved now!

May God love and keep you always,

    Your Friend,

    David

    • greengobline says:

Just to reassure you, it’s several years back, David, she’s actually fine now, or at least, her condition is controlled, and she’s a very pretty child of about 10 or so, I think, of quite normal weight. Although I’m sure your thoughts and prayers for her are welcome, she will be battling this for many years.

    • cassey says:

i think that is so true

  55. A person says:

    yea uhm shut up

  56. Koki Kariya says:

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Awesome, pure awesome.

  57. cassey says:

hey guys that is kind of mean. and just because she is fat dosen’t mean she is different, she’s is just like the rest of us.

but i think she does look like that thing next to here….

  58. this is me says:

    That’s still mean

  59. telosphilos says:

Wow. What commentary this one has.

I’m afraid while utterly shocking, the comparison is rather apt. I’m very glad for the updates in the commentary on her poor condition. Thank you for sharing the information with the rest of us.

I will say that while I empathize with the mother about out of control tantrums, I’m utterly delighted that the parenting classes and diet classes actually worked in their case. Sometimes things happen because you don’t know what else to do and you try so hard, but aren’t able to get any real practical help until the s*** hits the fan.

  60. Michael Smith says:

Wow. This is just SAD!!! The person that made this should have their account deleted. This is an insult to her and all fat people EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [snicker] I’m sorry about that………

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OMG I’m sorry this was just too funny. But I mean it. Oh by the way, how do you get the LOLs on icanhascheezburger, ihasahotdog, and roflrazzi onto the website because I have one that everyone here NEEDS to look at.

  61. Sharpie-Sniffer says:

    Poor thing. :(

Good to hear she lost all that weight, but really, the fact that her parents even let her reach 150lbs at 5 years old is crazy. That’s sad that CPS had to step in before they made any changes, she probably would have died before she hit 10.

    -sigh-

Oh well, at least it sounds like she made a big comeback, even if she’s still heavy; the mother (and possibly the father, I haven’t seen him) could stand to follow her diet too.

  62. Phryk says:

    Obvious parenting fail

  63. jacklovesfat says:

    her flab is hot.
    nomnomnom.
in my bed now, i love thee rolls.

  64. sam says:

you have go to be kidding. that is exponentially horrifying. the more i look at the poor girl, the more sick i feel. the parents do not deserve children.

  65. NoOneMysterious says:

Honestly, who the hell would do that to a child..
    oh yes,
it must all be body fat? (sarcasim)…
what the hell is wrong with are population you cant even go too a mall now a days without seeing overweight people, i feel so sorry that all of you poor bastards are so fat,.
    Sincerley, Alex; with deppresion

  66. Christy says:

    Aww, that poor girl :(

I want to smack whoever put her on display on freaking Maury Povich. That is not where she belongs. To educate people on Discovery channel, not as terrible, but to be put on display to be mocked on a talk show, that’s just cruel :(

  67. Disser says:

I bet the Michelin Man weighs less.

  68. Nick Kaplan says:

I’m not one to cuss, but there are no words to describe how f***ed up that is. Seriously, i’ts not funny. Whoever made this comparison is just as bad as those who made fun of her on that T.V. show. Shame!

  69. deli!!! says:

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm those parents should really help their daughter i mean i don’t even know if she is a she (is she?)

  70. Someone says:

She’s lost a lot of weight since then:

    • Girl says:

Oh my gosh! She looks so healthy now than she used to. I can’t believe how much weight she has lost. It’s amazing!

  71. One says:

Its not the parents, or her diet, or anything like that. This poor little girl had a deteriorating metabolism, and even putting her on a strict diet won’t slow the elephantiasis in her body.

  72. Carolina says:

this is so rude, take it down this instant. So disrespectful

  73. glasszlipper says:

    NOT cool, folks!

  74. lexi!! says:

    sad. just sad.

  75. Lady E says:

Woah. And I thought my dad was fat.

  76. lmfao says:

    lmfao!!! michellin man WIN!

  77. Matildaluvstwilight says:

WTF WHO DOES THAT 2 A FIVE YR OLD

  78. iknowwhatimtalkinabout says:

Actually…if you look at the youtube vids, that’s EXACTLY how she got fat. Her mom overfed her, which caused her to be hungry ALL the time, and throw tantrums when she didn’t get fries/ice cream/cookies/whatever. She even said she feels guilty about it (which still gives her no right to have custody of her.)

  79. koneko-chaan says:

….The poor girl, are her parents retarded or something.

  80. koneko-chaan says:

sorry for double posting, but i just saw the video, good for her for losing all that weight, but her mother should set a better example for her

  81. Ravennic says:

    poor girl

  82. The Sleeper says:

Thats so mean!! Most of these are funny but this one is just plain MEAN!!!!

  83. alex says:

as frank barrone would say, “HOLY CRAP”

  84. Alexa says:

I’m glad she lost all of that wait. Like nickJ’s vid said, it was due to over-eating.

  85. craig says:

Sorry, but this is not funny, its just making fun of a overweight little girl, it makes me sad that people find this funny :(

  86. Orlando says:

    Is not “michelin man”
    his name is “bidendum”

  87. Jaba says:

    Its my daughter bastards!

  88. AliKill says:

    Tisk, Only in America

  89. hans says:

    peanutbutterjellytime!

  90. Balthazor says:

The michelin man is named bibendum but i’m not sure which of the pictures is actually bibendum haha xD

  91. Monique says:

i said the same when i saw her on maury

  92. Adda says:

I think that the parents should be punished. I mean you can say that she has this eating disorder, but still, it’s up to her parents to realize that she has a problem (which she doesn’t, it’s her parents) And after a point, you have to realize that she has an issue. I mean, how could she get that weight without someone saying something. Also, to actually put her on a show like Maury has to be damaging to herself-esteem and mental health. Personally, if that were me, I would be embarassed. Hopefully, she’s at an age where she’s not to self-aware, and I also hope that she can get the weight off to the point where she’s at a normal weight. But still, it is the parents fault, no matter how you look at it, if by not saying no to her, or by not getting her checked out. They should be punished.

  93. Missy Chill says:

……I get how it’s rude n’ all to laugh at this, but, like, dude, she TOTALLY is the michelin man.

  94. Da truth says:

This girl overeats and her mom enables her. Stop making excuses for her. And the comparison is funny, they look alike.

  95. yup, this one’s a winner.

  96. LET THERE BE TACOS! says:

    aw that’s sad

  97. It’s perfect time to make a few plans for the longer term and it’s time to be happy. I have read this publish and if I may just I wish to suggest you few fascinating things or tips.
