  1. skippy says:

wonder if it was made from it?

  2. Joe says:

This style of mixer has been around a long time. It wouldn’t surprise me that the special effects people from the movie made the head of that droid from a canibalized one–which would be appropriate if you what kind of scene the droid appears in the movie.

  3. CashMan says:

So that must mean that kitchen aids are really sadistic overseer droids?
    oh no…

  4. RiderLeangle says:

    Fifth.

    I mean:
Well what do you think they made the droid from?

  5. Sam says:

That was actually a tactic in the Star Wars movies, using household objects as inspiration for the technology. Boba Fett’s ship, the Slave I, looks like an iron, for example.

  6. hergieburbur says:

I’m pretty sure EV-9D9 IS a kitchen aid mixer.

  7. awlred says:

As said a LOT of Starwars gadgets were made from readily available products. The Death Star surface was made from hundereds of battleship kit sheets just broken up and glued together to create the effect. The Y-Wing Engine Tubules were made from Saturn V Rocket modes with the domed ends being made from Pantyhose containers and the sound from TIE Fighters was made by mixing tyres screeching on wet tarmac and a elephant trumpting.

    Geeky Trivia ftw

  8. wimple says:

  11. Tim says:

If you watch Episode I carefully (who’d want to?), you can see:
Wham-O Trac Ball racket in Anakin’s room
HP Inket cartridges in Watto’s workshop
    And Qui-Gon’s communicator is a woman’s razor.

  12. amethyst says:

    lets hear it for recycling.

  13. Cathy says:

Let’s not forget that R2D2 was inspired by a Rainbow vacuum cleaner.

  14. Rob says:

I’ve always wondered about the head of that droid in ROTJ, and I wouldn’t be surprised if a kitchenaid mixer was used to make it.
