Yes, you are correct however, since the swastika was not used as a Nazi symbol until 1920′s and was not incorporated onto the Nazi flag until the 1930′s after Hitler came into power.

Yeah well it isn’t an actual nazi symbol per se, as others said already, but since that time it has always been remembered as such. This is the case especially in Germany since 1945, where it is an illicit symbol considered as anti-constitutional, and as such of course strictly forbidden.

If you look at the ancient pictures you will notice that the 90% angles turned to the left. Hitler flipped this and turned the 90% angles to the right. So if you would like to refer to the ancient meanings of the swastika, then you would have to refer to the proper design of the swastika otherwise you are patronizing the sign of the Nazi Party.
