Another example of classic elderly white male racism… I thought I’d live to see the day when a white male could grow old, get an awesome zz top beard, and rock a jaunty little hat and not be compared to Walt Whitman or Gandalf. But here I see the two compared directly so I guess I won’t be a gettin there with ya.

The noses are all wrong clearly. I mean sure, other pictures are far less similar, are amusing, and are close enough… but c’mon… All old white octegenarian (or older in Gandalf’s case) males don’t look alike, or for that matter not even remotely .0000002% would be similar enough to draw a comparison…. You might as well compare Kofi Annan to Morgan Freeman.

Fair enough, I now see the irony and no, I didn’t get it the first time, because there are far too many precious prima donna’s that seem upset that THE GREAT WALT WHITMAN was compared to Gandalf (aka Ian McKellen), or worrying about the order in which the comparison was placed (how petty can you get?)

They look nothing alike. This is racism at its worst. Walt’s face is rounder, and he has different bags under his eyes. His beard isn’t as stringy or as long, and his eyebrows are whiter. Walt’s mouth is entirely covered in hair whereas Gandalf’s isn’t.

All white people look alike to you, don’t they?

Walt Whitman was around before Gandalf was imagined.

So again, Gandalf looks like Walt Whitman.

(…not to mention the Lord of the Rings is desperately pathetic next to anything Whitman wrote….)
