    • o0omrjacko0o says:

very true, and i never knew that lol

“They are commonly kept as pets in the United States, Great Britain (under the spelling axlotl), Australia, Japan (sold under the name wooper rooper (ウーパールーパー ,Ūpā Rūpā?)) and other countries.”

theres also another salamander that looks very similar called a Mud Puppy

possibly of the same family :O researching both the axolotl and the mud puppy neither one makes mention of the other so im not sure

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proteidae

theres the wiki though, and proteidae is the technical name lol

    • Moi says:

Exactly. Axolotls are also known as Wooper Roopers.

  4. BBB says:

    Racist.

    ‘Mexican’ is a derogatory term.

    • stormychang says:

dude.. why is mexican ‘racist’ if your from mexio.. your a mexican, if your from america, your american, if your from italy, your an italian, and so on…. get over yourself.

  5. MrMash says:

yeah that’s kinda the whole point =P

  6. mmhhh says:

    aww. hes a baby!

  7. DragonRider says:

Wow! The pokemon that is based off of the axolotl actually LOOKS like an axolotl?! How shocking!
    -_-

    • WarDragon says:

it’s shocking if you saw a lot of pokemon that were supposed to look like something, but didn’t. and now one does look like the animal it’s based off? wow :O XD

  8. RiderLeangle says:

At least they’re not saying it’s a mudkip like everyone else.

  9. cakeislie says:

Man that’s kind of dumb… all pokemon are based off something in the first place! we might as well post “Safeway brand Cola” looks like “Coca Cola”

  10. angel twin says:

thats really pathetic, because it is kinda based on an axoltl, so whoever made this comparison needs to work harder.

god doesnt any1 else read about the origins of pokemon names and appearances. -_-

  11. Renard says:

In the french version of pokemon, Wopper’s name is Axoloto…..

    • BBB says:

In France, you’re still a dork.

      • Your mom says:

Yeah, to all of you who know this, all I can say is that you better be under 7 years old. Because I have a son who is seven and he likes Pokemon. So that is just plain disgusting :P

        • stormychang says:

actually, because pokemon started in like the late 1990′s there are alot of people that are taken by it. you cant tell people they have to be a certain age to like something. its like telling all those moms out there who still live in the 80′s in their heads that they’re stupid.

        • Your Mum says:

OMG! People playing a game they like! Disgusting!

        • WarDragon says:

omg, your son is disgusting :O XD

  12. Jack says:

No ****… do you think that both mudkip and wooper might juuuust be based on an axolotl? i think woopers japanese literal translation is axoloto

  13. Leah says:

You’are all missing the point. Whether intentional or not, a Wooper totally looks like an Axolot. This isn’t totallycoincidentlylookslikebychance.com.

    • Leah says:

      You’are? Nice. I mean You are…

      • PetrolFish says:

I’m fairly certain the idea of this particular site is to compare UNintentional lookalikes. Otherwise, we’d be overrun by things like “Hugh Jackman totally looks like Wolverine”-type stuff.

    • Moi says:

It looks like one because it is BASED off one. Even the name Wooper came from the name Wooper Rooper which is another name for axolotls. It would be like saying “This painting of my dog totally looks like my dog!”

  14. Tom says:

    ORLY?!?!!?!?!!??!

  15. Katie says:

Somebody is reading my biology textbook! That salamander is totally the first picture in the chapter about gas exchange in animals!

  16. Jbomb says:

Has the creator of this entry realize that Pokemon are BASED OFF OF REAL ANIMALS?

  17. Paradise says:

In french, this pkmn name is “Axoloto” :)

  18. mike says:

Instant virginity test, if you are one of the many people who explained that an wooper is TOTALLY based off a axolotl, you are a virgin.

    • Huey says:

That’s a really stupid thing to say. Everyone knows Pokemon are based on real animals.

      • Revenant says:

If you are one of the many people who explained that “an” wooper is totally based “off” “a axolotl” – you’ve been missing your grammar classes.

        I like him. He’s smiley.

  19. WISHone says:

    seez salamainder lookz funeh!!!

  20. Crissy says:

    hehe too cute!!

  21. VamJirachi says:

Woooow…Pokemon are SUPPOSED to look like animals! The person who submitted this obviously doesn’t have a clue this was on purpose T_T…If I see one more Pokemon look alike, with a Pokemon compared to an animal, I will kill someone!

  22. 1hc50 says:

It’s meant to be a axolotl

  23. Warren Photographic says:

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I see you have used an image by Jane Burton of an axolotl on your website. Jane Burton is my late mother, and she dedicated her life to rescuing and photographing animals. In appreciation of her work, I wonder if you would be kind enough to add a link from your site to hers, as this would help others to find her collection of wonderful photographs.

    The website address is http://www.warrenphotographic.co.uk

    Thank you,
    Mark Taylor

  24. hrh says:

Actually Wooper the Pokemon is based off of the Axolotl Salamander. http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/On_the_Origin_of_Species:_Wooper

  25. justin duran says:

Axolotl Salamanders are also called “wooper loopers” hence the name wooper.

  26. ID3164 says:
