I know huh. I’ve seen that shot a few times before.

Most notably though I remember it from ‘Saving Private Ryan’ (when they’re digging a grave) and the subsequent parody in the movie ‘Rushmore’.

Does anyone know if there is a previous time when this sort of shot was used before? Because if it was first used in ‘Saving Private Ryan’ then I can see why ‘Band Of Brothers’ paid homage to it.

Wel.. in my opinion there is no “right” or “wrong”. The original poster obviously is more familiar with Lost and most likely knew about it first. So for them its fine to state it the way they did.

However i do also appreciate the commenters who pointed out that to them Lost looks like BandOfBrothers because personally I knew about BandOfBrothers first. And trust me it is far more epic than Lost. So I like that people are pointing that out.

But in all honesty the original poster did not “fail”. They simply stated that TO THEM the BoB pic looks like the Lost pic.
KEY WORDS: Looks like.
If they had said BoB COPIED Lost then we’d have a problem.

A little OffTopic but still OnTopic: To me J.J. Abrams is a hack and simply dumbs down the work of others to appeal to masses, and the masses eat it all up. I’ve only watched 5 episodes of Lost (with my GirlFriend) and it was really dumb. One illogical twist after another. It was like CastAway meets RealWorld meets a Telemundo Novela.

OK… now I am off to remove the stick that is firmly lodged in my anus.

I was appalled when I saw this as well. Not only is “Lost” a piece of crap show, but Band of Brothers, the best war mini-series/movie ever created (in my opinion) came 3 years prior to the trash that some call “Lost.”

Band of Brothers and Lost are both fantastic shows. The production quality on BoB was higher because it was a mini-series, but the story of Lost is much more intriguing. They are both great in their own respects

BBB didn’t even come close to winning this. The point is that the poster was apparently unaware of Band of Brothers being first and MESSED UP on the order. Also, Band of Brothers awesomeness is undeniable, Lost is pretty good, but still debatable. Calling it a subjective matter is completely false, BoB came long before Lost. End of story, dismissed.

First off a show “created by advertising agencies to showcase product” implies that the show features products. The cars are in flashback and never “featured.”
and unlike shows with sponsor deals, they’re not all the same brand.most of the show is on an island ant all of the products come from companies that are integral parts of the show’s mythology, not just randomly named to avoid pissing off sponsors. Have you actually SEEN the show? Because it seem as though you’re talking out of your ass.

This isn’t a matter of a simple comparison. Which is more proper: “The Virgin Mary looks like this piece of toast” or “This piece of toast looks like the Virgin Mary”? The latter, because in order for subject of a sentence to “look like” the object of the sentence, the object had to already exist before the subject in order to the subject to imitate it/resemble it/ etc….

And just because you don’t care about grammar doesn’t mean that other people don’t.

Actually, that proves it. If they weren’t worried about advertisment they wouldn’t worry about pissing any one off (Think about how SNL has tons of product jokes.) The fact that they have a small amount of real products just means that thats the company who took up the rights.
For example, if you ever watch a cop/Crime Drama show, you’ll see that every time they send a severed body part through the mail they never use a real courier service.
