To Lynn Nexus: Don’t try to pretend your a intellectual on such things because you have what seems like a well built vocabulary I’m almost positive this isn’t harajuku, J-rock, Visual Kei, or any type of Japanese oriented style. Bows don’t make you j-rock or look like someone from Alice-nine. The Gazette, X japan or L’arc en ciel last time I checked they didn’t dress in loita clothing or had hair like that… They however dressed in blazers and victorian clothing but her clothing doesn’t look like that now does it? Also when you say guys shop in girl stores… are you serious? Skinny jeans are retro they’re nothing new they probably shop in retro shops you would find in any large city like seattle don’t look down on people for dressing differently if people all dressed the same we would all look the same. Styles about standing out not blending in and if think they’re all the same and overly “common” then you probably wouldn’t be criticizing them plus how common are jocks and preppy girls and wait don’t they usually look alike hmm… Yeah… I’m captain of a debate team I use more fact than your “opinionated ignorance”.

Wow, a lot of the defenders on here are complete morons. Expecially the one who used text speak to say she/he didn’t understand all those big scary words that other posters were using. It’s the FML where some girl cut up all her sisters clothes for being a “conformist pawn” for liking American Eagle jeans, when she herself was all emo to conform to her little friends.

To say that people who don’t like the look and aren’t afraid to say so are jealous is the oldest (and, might I add, lamest) comeback in the book. Maybe they just think that individuality should be, well, individual. There is nothing individual or respectable about needing to put on a mask to “be yourself”.

All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again.

(Oh, and whoever said “emo” was Japanese for “potato” is genious, true or not!)

Aww, what a cute dog. I love Papillons, they’re so cute and friendly. Scene kids, probably not so much.
I dunno ’bout you guys, but I don’t find that manly, fake haired, girl attractive at all.
If you can see pass the lighting, tons of make up, face hair and accessories, you can see that she is quite average.
No, I’m not jealous. I don’t want to look like a dog. I find “scene” “emo” and whatever else you can come up with quite overrated.
The dog is naturally beautiful, and I wish girls were the same (By that I mean that I wish girls would show their natural beauty)
You don’t need to wear a ton of make up and look like a dog to be “beautiful”.

You guys that have called her a “slut” or whatever are crude and very mean. So what if she chooses to wear her hair like that, it’s not hurting you! I thought “freedom of expression” was one of our fundamental rights stated in our constitution. Just because she decides to dress scene, that doesn’t make her any less of a person.

And stop bringing the punk subculture into this whole “middle class teenage brats” discussion. Punk has nothing to do with little mallrats running around at your local Hot Topic. Punk was originally a subculture of the lower class. Sure, the rich upper-middle class teenagers(not that upper-middle class teenagers can’t be punk though) who once decided that turning into faux-anarchists and screaming “f- the government!” were cool totally screwed it, but real punk is not dead. Never was, never will be. Punk is about free-thinking, anti-establishment, and living your life to the fullest without caring about what others think of you, not some “middle class teenage trend.”

The puppy is cuter. Seriously. The overexposed lighting, makeup, and hair are a distraction from how average looking she actually is. It’s usually the same with almost any emo/scene kid you see walking around.

I see DOZENS of girls like this walking around at the mall, so I don’t really see what’s so brave about looking just like every other yuppie mallcore gutter-skank.

I’m not going to say anything negative about wearing black hair and dressing gothic, because I do, but scene/emo kids are so self-absorbed, vain, and outright rude in their personalities, that I really don’t care…and for a group that encourages individuality and freedom of expression, most of the snide remarks I’ve gotten about how I’m “scary” come from the scene/emo jerks.

It has NOTHING to do with being yourself. It’s a stupid aesthetic, and that’s all. There’s no more mystery to being emo or scene than there is to being goth, prep, punk, or gangster and the inflated self-importance of being emo makes it that much less tolerable than the common hypocrisy of these middle-class brats.
