Hi, I’m Melissa Pritchard, and I didn’t choose the cover – the publisher chooses – I had no idea about any of this until there was an article in the NY Times – also, when I was in a London bookshop, I was shocked to see Eugenides’ book with the same cover as mine – authors, or most, don’t generally get to pick their covers….just thought I’d clear that up – Thanks!

Well the thing is when an artist buys a stock photo they can either just buy the photo, or buy exclusive rights. Sometimes the exclusive rights become very expensive so they can’t afford it. If they don’t buy the exclusive rights, anyone else can buy and use the same photo/

IT is the same pic, but the grass is different. The person is probably just a cut out and was placed over the grass.

look at the dress, its slightly above the knee on one leg on both pics. theres just a slight color difference, which is probably because they changed the contrast level.

it’s identical.
so yes is is the same stock photo with extremely minor retouching.
