Maybe not enough for a trademark infringement charge to stick. Since the business of this firm is completely different A&H. One is a framing firm the other home cleaning and other household products. The hammer is different, etc.

Yes, they are similar, but not enough to “cause confusion” or “dilute the value of the existing trademark”, the typical legal standards for infringement.

First use of the Arm and Hammer logo by Church and Dwight (makers of Arm and Hammer Baking Soda): 1878. It was based on an earlier logo for Vulcan Spice Mills, however neither logo was as similar to the SLPA logo as the modern version of A & H logo.

Hammers were a popular motif for various purposes through time. The surprising fact is not the use of an arm holding a hammer (which can be found in any number of other logos in the 19th C. and before), but the striking similarity of these two logos.

The logo on the vehicle uses a framing hammer, so my guess is that they just stole the Arm & Hammer logo, but modified it slightly. Anyway, the Better Business Bureau doesn’t seem to mind. Whoa… BBB. I never thought that coincidence would come up on this site.
