GRRR I feel like I have to defend this girl every comment I post – she actually IS really talented, despite what you hear on radios shes able to put on really great shows by performing and NOT lip syncing, she plays the piano wonderfully, and she CAN sing, you know hold a note? AND shes not a guy, that was the medias way of reacting to a strong woman. There, thats it.

She is a blend of David Bowie and Debbie Harry. Look at all the smack that was spoken of those two when they first emerged, and now they are considered to be iconic. She is mostly an artistic concept and her earlier work is likened to Tori Amos (another ‘high art’ performer). It is haute courture of the music industry. As a teacher and artists, I always remind my students that it is important to consider why they don’t like somthing and instead represent that opinion as a lack of understanding. Just because one cannot wrap their brain around it doesn’t mean that it isn’t any good (read: you sound less ignorant and narrow minded when you say “I don’t understand it”).

It’s funny that the hermaphrodite rumour comes up about so many women who rise to fame. In fact, hermaphroditism (true hermaphroditism) is pretty rare, and I’m pretty sure that had she been born with both sets of gonads, it would have been taken care of shortly after birth, and not left up in the air for twenty-three years

Yeah, I heard about that. There is a video from a concert where she has a mini dress on, and is sitting on a motorcycle. When she gets up, the dress rides up and there definitely looks like she has a penis. There is also an alleged quote floating around that she said she did have both sex organs(nobody can confirm where that came from though). But from other pictures of her, I think she just has really huge meat curtains or something. Could be true though, I guess. Who knows?
