Since when has inspiration been “ripping off”? The authors proudly state that they used Amy Lee as a character base for Real aka Re-l aka, I think, echo of Monad Proxy. Though I do agree with you that Evanescence is awesome, as is Ergo Proxy!

the SERIES is Ergo Proxy, the character is Re-l Meyer, who is possibly a clone (or part clone) of Monad Proxy. Ergo Proxy is Vincent Law.

Actually you are kind of correct. The producers, director and animators of Ergo Proxy did base the look of Rei-L on Amy Lee. There are articles about it online. One of them was a fan of Evanescence and thought Amy Lee’s look was perfect for the character.

When you take a square crop of Re-l’s face, sure it’s gonna look like the Fallen cover. The same could be said if you cropped a photo of any attractive woman who parted her hair in the same way. In this case, the cropping leaves out Re-l’s “hair ears”.
