He’s a turd
Oh, really? He is simply trying to stop bigger turds who are clearly breaking international law since the 1986 moratorium of the IWC. While his methods maybe questionable by some, at least he is doing something….
You obviously don’t watch south park…
Nope, pardon my unforgivable ignorance…
Paul Watson endlessly lies to manipulate people into doing what he wants them to do.
http://www.seashepherdlies.com/
Wait, what?
Breaking international law? the IWC is a volunteer organization. If you’d like the Japanese can leave it at any time and resume commercial whaling and still be completely legal.
Breaking the rules? Once more, lethal research is allowed and supported by the IWC, and by the IWC’s own rules the meat must be sold to prevent waste.
I’m affraid the Japanese are completely legal. Watson and his group have spread the BS thick over this one
Who looks like what, now?
Meh. Lame.
What a terrible TLL.
But does Paul Watson bounce?
And who the hell is Paul Watson, anyway?
He’s an environmentalist terrorist that drags Steve Irwin’s name through the mud by naming his boat after him, which Watson loads up with a bunch of vegans with an incompetency level that even hippies would laugh at in order to take on illegal Japanese whalers. Their cause sounds ideal at first, but their entire strategy doesn’t actually do anything worthwhile, meanwhile if the Japanese react to their attacks (such as getting mad that the vegans invaded a boat) then they cry foul on the Japanese. Watson even faked getting shot (not very well) in order to blame it on the Japanese.
I wouldn’t call him a terrorist at all, but certainly he is an environmentalist. Why do you have so much butthurt over what he’s doing? Do you actually condone what the Japanese are doing in the name of ‘research’ just so they can eat whales?
Right on, Eddie. Please visit Seashepherdbackup dot com.
No, I think it’s absolutely disturbing and despicable what the Japanese are doing. The thing is, the Sea Shepherds are hurting the cause more than they are helping it. Their methods are fruitless and poorly executed, and they depend on blatant hypocrisy in order to make them “work.” Such as when their team boarded the Japanese vessel, and then they called foul on the Japanese when the Japanese wouldn’t turn them back over. They are a bunch of hypocritical fools and they give a terrible name to anybody that would wish to actually make an effective protest.
If they really want to be effective, then they should use their funding to advance a political agenda to close the loophole that the Japanese are exploiting. Otherwise their efforts will only end in their pitiful defeat by the relentless Japanese, and they will continue to look like incompetent terrorists. And yes, they are terrorists. Their methods are meant to terrorize the Japanese as they have done so with lasers that can blind the Japanese, or the rancid butter (hypocrisy note: diehard vegans are using animal product as a weapon) that can also damage their vision. This is not the way to get a peaceful point across.
You forgot to mention the speakers/sub woofers? they used a couple times that could potentially make them deaf. I totally agree with everything you said
Now I know who you are. The Avon Ladies of the conservation movement. You spout the Greenpeace line right to the letter.
So let’s talk about effective protest. Greenpeace conducted and expensive and intensive operation last fall called “Defending Our Pacific” The campaign was a total farce. Their luxurious 72 meter (240 feet) Esperenza cruised the Pacific logging only one major action in defense of sea life: its crew members painted the words “Fueling Plunder” and “Tuna Plunder” on the hull of a Panamanian-flagged tanker that had fueled a US purse seiner at sea. Wow!
It must make you proud to know your $100 Greenpeace donation was used so effectively in the protection of endangered tuna… Graffiti. Hmmm.
Not to be outdone, a second Greenpeace ship, the ‘Rainbow Warrior’ deployed buoys marked ‘Crime Scene’ around cages holding bluefin tuna being fattened up for harvesting and then sold for export. Does their bravery know no bounds? How can you possibly do anything to degrade the name of such an organization?
As for your comment about Watson sitting in his cabin, you are just making up stupid stories. Animal Planet photographers are on the scene all the time. Just watch some of the Videos. Watson didn’t get his activist reputation by sitting idly by. But he obviously has much more to do than stand on deck throwing stink bombs or manning a water cannon.
As for your last statement, who wants to get a peaceful point across to killers who are breaking the law (under the pretense of research).
I will bet you any money that the Japanese will not be whaling next year, in spite of their ramming and sinking the Shepherd’s
‘Ady Gil’.
You know, a lot of people get their knickers in a twist over Paul Watson, but by God, at least he is bringing some attention to the problem. Now, if we could only get the Rudd government to get off their asses and actually do something besides crying boo-f*cking-hoo at the Japanese.
Oh, and since you mentioned the Ady Gil, was there ever any question that the murderous Japanese whalers fully intended on ramming it to the bottom of the sea?
I dislike paul watson so much that I now support the Japanese in their efforts to wipe out the whales.
That is the same as the guy who says he hates Winston Churchill so much he supports Hitler in his efforts to wipe out the Jews. And Malisyn thinks I am unreasonable.
Bam, Godwin’d!
Agreed
A terrorist? Only if you feel water guns and stink bombs are lethal weapons. Paul Watson and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society have never injured a single soul in over 30 years of saving the lives of marine creatures.
Your comments reflect your outright ignorance of the facts. You should be as brave and dedicated in the face of the overwhelming dangers he has faced daily for over 30 years to protect sea Creatures. What have you ever done except criticize (behind the security of your keyboard)?
Sea Sheperd is an eco-terrorist group that does nothing but harass people..(the only reason its only that is because they have a TV deal)
They recently purposely moved in front a Japanese whaler boat and let their boat leak oil and fuel into the ocean, oh and it was also shot to look like the Japanese boat rammed them…here ya go
The propaganda video
youtube(dot)com/watch?v=Bbuq0YEIPNU
how it really happened
youtube(dot)com/watch?v=guI5nuskygs
Another idiot!
Two videos on the sea taken from different perspectives make it easy for anyone to support whatever propaganda they want to promote.
I don’t think any reasonable or humane person would want to undermine the activities of someone aggressively opposing a fleet of killers who are bent on slaughtering 1,000 whales – illegally – in their supposedly protected breeding grounds.
If you were around during WWII you guys were probably avid fans of Tokyo Rose and marched in protest of the Marine’s actions in
Guadalcanal and elsewhere in the Pacific.
Except for the fact that you seem to be anything but reasonable.
Given the arguments presented against Paul Watson and the Sea Shepherd, I think Cal is just responding to the idiocy being displayed. If you think that he’s a terrorist, that is your prerogative. The fact is the Japanese are harvesting whales using a loophole and are basically giving the finger to the rest of the world that opposes what they are doing. It sounds like those opposed to Watson’s efforts are fine with Whales being made extinct.
Terrorism doesn’t mean deadly methods must be used. Terrorist is a word that has been degraded with overuse that it’s so often taken as though it must mean someone with a suicide bomb or something similar. On the contrary, a terrorist is a person that terrorizes people to further their own agenda; the Sea Shepherds terrorize with rancid butter (which can, in fact, cause harm), lasers (which can, in fact, cause harm), and damaging the Japanese boats. While the incompetent crew perform these activities, Watson sits safely within the confines of the ship; not exactly a fearless leader.
As for my personal life or activities, that truly has no significance to this discussion because I don’t go around harassing people with my extremist actions. Rather, all I have done here is relay information in a coherent manner. I implore everybody to not take my word for it and decide for themselves with research on these people. As for the keyboard thing… How else am I supposed to interact online when replying to someone who wanted to know who Paul Watson was? I don’t have their number or address to choose an alternative method.
“Can cause harm” is far different that “does cause harm”. Strawberry jam can cause harm too. But in 30 years on the ice and facing formidable foes has never injured a single person. He himself has been tortured by the Canadian Mounted Police, beaten by mobs of seal slaughters, imprisoned, fined, and harassed all of his life in defense of willdlife.
He is the only Executive Director of any so-called animal defense organization that is always on the front line. And what may I ask, do you think Paul Watson’s agenda is? I don’t think anyone is stupid enough to believe it is anything other than saving the lives of animals.
So, yes. Watson is a terrorist. Trying to further his own agenda of protecting wild life. Besides, who does he terrorize other than large gangs of vicious thugs. In the case of the whalers, there are multiple ships with guns, explosive harpoons, and powerful water cannons. They also have paid professional security ships.
Anyone who believes that the crew of a 50-foot plywood trimaran would be so foolish as to deliberately put themselves in mortal danger by steering into the path of a 300-foot steel ship coming in at full speed, is either stupid or insane, or both.
Ma Ma mA Poker Face Ma Ma Poker Face….
I guess a foolish comment like the one that started this thread was bound to attract so many foolish responses. I’d like to hear from some reasonable people cals5839 at comcast dot net
Haha! I don’t know who he is but he does look like that sasquatch thing!
and CHECK OUT MY BLOG! lol
I don’t know where that picture of Paul came from, but it certainly does make him look bad. He is actually quite a handsome guy.
I am leaving this page now to continue writing a book about Paul called “The world’s most hated hero”. The book will be priced at $19.95 in bookstores. You can pr-order it next week from my website for $12.95
If any of you haters who hide behind avatars, care to have your opinions published, send them to me at cals5839 at comcast dot com.
For those who support Paul, click on my name and join my new program: Sea Shepherd Backup.
Cal.
PS: I have never met Paul and have no association with SSCS. My only real interest is the creatures of the sea and seemingly unstoppable collapse of the marine ecology.
Clearly a Paul fan on here but you know what? I don’t care what he does out in international waters with the whalers because what those whalers are doing is illegal, and so is what Paul does, so I don’t really care. But what I do care about is Paul Watson coming into Canadian waters and bashing the hell out of ice with our fishermen on it! Whether that man likes it or not, the seal hunt IS legal, it is full supported by our government and laws and cruising around and trying to hurt people is not going to stop the government. It’s just going to make us send out the mounties again, arrest his crew, and dock one of his ships again. So by all means, go out and try to stop the illegal things from happening but get out of our waters and away from our citizens. I hope next time he tries to tango with a Coast Guard ship, his hunk of junk sinks. I’ve seen the videos of the DFO so called ramming. If you read official reports, the DFO was circling the area to try to defend the fishermen and the Farley Mowatt got in the way.
I have researched and read a lot from my government but also the tripe that Watson puts on his site. It’s a load of propaganda and crap. But you don’t have to believe me, read some official reports as well as Mr. Watsons. I’ll tell you who I believe… not the man ramming our ice with our citizens on it… I believe my government.
The Japanese break no laws. They are using a loophole that allows them to kill the whales, but the loophole DOES exist, and makes what they are doing legal.
Watson is a criminal– not necessarily for his actions against the Japanese or any other group of people with whom he does not agree, but for the deadly danger that he routinely puts his incompetent idiot entourage into. They say God looks after the drunk and retarded, but God must have missed this batch.
People who are running around in boats around the Antartic, getting stuck in sheet ice, and playing with motorized rafts, need to have at least a basic idea of what they’re doing. Sooner or later, their Darwin award will come in, and Watson will have to find another group of idiots to murder.
The loophole you speak of is for research purposes. I hardly think killing a 1000 whales so the Japanese can have them on their plate would be considered research.
There’s really not much point in wasting time on this subject Eddie. These people probably have their own agenda and will only distort the
facts.
My mother told me very early in life that “a man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still.”
Good try though. It’s nice to hear the voice of reason.
“Pearls before swine”
Maybe some day they’ll wake up to the world around them.
I didn’t say they were using the loophole properly. I said what they are doing is legal. That does not make it moral.
Likewise, what Paul Watson is doing is legal. But his doing IS moral. And the saving of even one life makes his actions downright RIGHTEOUS It doesn’t matter what kind of creature that life belongs to, any man who prevents another from taking it ‘immorally’ is worthy of commendation, not condemnation.
I suspect you believe man is so so superior to other animals, that we have the divine right to kill anything not human at will. Well, you are wrong!
Again, I wouldn’t say everything he does is legal or moral if you read official reports on some of the things he does besides trying to stop whalers. But you have nothing to say about the fact that Paul Watson’s crew seems to think they have the right to kill or hurt fishermen within my country’s jurisdiction participating in a legal fishery.
Oh, but it’s ok for Japanese to kill whales within another countries jurisdiction. Is that what you’re saying? As for killing any fisherman, care to provide evidence?
It would be legal if they were actually using the whales for research. They’re not, they use them for food.
Oh, and just because you paint ‘Research’ on the side of the ship doesn’t mean it’s valid.
Paul Watson has never hurt or killed anyone. However, he was beaten and terrorized by mobs of violent sealers while RCMP and local police stood by, saying they couldn’t do anything because they “had to live with these people”.
Watson’s ‘terrorist’ acts in the anti-sealing campaign was spraying the white coated babies with red dye to make their fur valueless and thus not worth the effort of slaughtering them.
BY the way, Canada is not exclusively YOUR country. Paul Watson is a Canadian too, as am I. But it is heartless Canadians like you that perpetuates the myth that Paul and his crew are violent. They are not!
I served in the RCAF as a Public Relations officer, and was a News and Features writer for a year. It is really nice that you “believe your government”.
White coats haven’t been hunted since 1987. I have read reports by DFO and spoken to people who have worked regulating the hunt. It is well regulated and a legal hunt. And you can read reports of the Farley Mowatt ramming the ice that fishermen were standing on. I’m definitely heartless because I think that seal hunting is no different than any other kind of hunting (Seeing as it’s done mostly with a rifle). I also find it much more humane than killing thousands of cows and chickens in slaughter houses being stuffed to the point of their legs not being able to support them. I would consider myself to be more caring about animals than a lot of meat eating people. I have owned free range chickens for eggs, gardened, I eat game when I can, free range chickens when I can etc. I do in fact care about animals and what people put in their mouths.
The seal hunt is highly sustainable and almost all of the animal is used which I think promotes being less wasteful. But I digress, you can’t convince most die hard Paul fans of looking at the other side of the argument. I have looked at Paul’s side of the argument… until reading material from both sides and seeing all the propaganda. I know a lot of people in DFO and they have no agenda for wanting the hunt to go on, they just uphold the law, so I have figured out my opinions from speaking to them and reading a lot.
couldn’t have said it better myself
The Prayer of the Sea Shepherd Faithful
I love Sea Shepherd.
I love the way Paul Watson changes his conservation goals every year.
I love the way Paul Watson faked being shot in the chest.
I love the way Paul Watson has become a dancing eco-patsy to Discovery Networks.
I love the way Paul Watson lies about everything he bloviates on about.
I love the way Paul Watson and Sea Shepherd have destroyed the concept of conservation and replaced it with a hyper inflated media machine that spits out often inane talking points based on their latest stunt work with whalers.
Yes I love Sea Shepherd, and will continue to donate my hard earned dollars for many more years of the same useless efforts producing shady statistics about the numbers of animals saved.
God bless them, each and every one.
Paul Watson totally looks like Michael Mcdonald
paul watson is not a yeti he are a man with a heart for the sea and lovely whales and sneezing seals and jumping dolphins i am a big fan to paul watson and the sea are not stupid THE SEA ARE BEUTY AND THE COOL
Paul Watson continually claims that the Sea Shepherds have never harmed anyone even though it is a fact that one of the Japanese was injured when Pete Bethune illegally boarded the Shonan Maru 2. Paul Watson continually claims that Sea Shepherd has only used non-violent tactics and yet he conveniently neglects to mention the time he ordered his crew onboard the Edward Abbey to open canon fire on a Japanese vessel; there are also countless other examples of violence and life threatening tactics that have been used by Paul Watson to sink vessels. Paul Watson says he has never been convicted of any crime; that is yet one more of his countless lies. Paul Watson was convicted in absentia (because he refused attend his trial) in Norway. There are also numerous countries that have active arrest warrants out for him. Paul Watson’s narcissism is so complete that he believes as long as he avoids attending the numerous trials that are currently pending for him, then he has committed no crime. Paul Watson is a criminal and he needs to be held accountable for his actions. Paul Watson is also a stupid criminal. Illegally boarding a vessel is a serious crime and those onboard the vessel have every right to defend themselves by any means necessary INCLUDING shooting those that are trying to illegally board the vessel. Paul Watson’s stupidity is going to result in someone getting seriously injured or killed.
LMAO hahhhhaaaa !! LOL
DDDDDDDDDDDD
ditto !
