  1. The Jamster says:

What is that next to the Vault Boy look alike? Is it a height measure?

  2. A Random Pooka says:

I think this isn’t so much a TLL as a “Totally is the same character”

Oh my God! Sylvester Stallone Totally Looks Like Rambo!

  3. Old says:

Umm, no. The other way around. Vault Boy was around in 1997.

  4. Jon says:

We’ve seen this same character on another TLL involving some other advertisement.

  5. Elbi says:

    “Vault Boy from Fallout 3″
    “Fallout 3″
    “3″

    Dead dunno source,
you DO know about the existence of the prequels and spin-offs, right? More like “Vault Boy from the Fallout Series” really.

  6. kgibs says:

In recent news, the Capital Wasteland was renamed the Capital Wastedland.

  7. Gandalfs Beard says:

There is no doubt that they are both Vault Boy. The question is whether the ad is from within the Game itself, or from some licensed (or unlicensed) use of the character.

  8. Ant says:

Is the underage drinking ad from the 1950′s?

  9. Captain Undying Underpants says:

Looks like the fallout boy on the rightmost image is from the first game(s). Anyone know which one, and if it is a pip-boy image or an in game bill board perhaps?

  10. Captain Undying Underpants says:

And of course I meant vault boy, not fallout boy.
Dang this page needs an edit-button.

  11. Mike says:

    Interesting!

  12. retroboy says:

    isnt Vault boy copyrighted?

  13. fearonis says:

The vault boy figure guy was like a figure or icon during the time fall out takes place in the game. after WW II or something

  14. Mark A. says:

Heh, they totally look like each other because they ARE each other. This is an ‘easy’ submission.

  15. No Vault Boy no Fallout Boy.
His name is PIP-Boy (Personal Information Processor-Boy) and he is the Vault-Tec’s mascot. And he is indeed around for a long time (since 1997).

  16. guinness says:

    “Vault-boy from fallout 3″… -.-’

FIrst it’s PIP and the game series has been around for over a decade.

It’s like people thinking world of warcraft is the only one in the WC series…
Conviniently forgetting 3 games and 2 expantions to those that came way before. I had WC – Orcs and Humans when it came. It came on a disc. the ones that defaulted to /:A ….

    Kids…*grumbles*

  17. Peter Griffin says:

He’s supposed to look like him. That’s the joke. The dude in your PIP is supposed to look the kid in all the 1950′s type advertisements.

  18. Pugiron says:

Another mouthbreather is able to catch the similarities between an orriginal and it’s copy. Your Mom would be proud, glue sniffer.

  19. L337MA573R says:

They actually just took a Pipboy Nuka Cola Ad, and just recolored it.

  20. ibneedo says:

PIP stands for Personal Information Processor, that guy is vault boy, the wrist thingy is pip-boy

  21. Chongo says:

NO DERR IT”S THE SAME PERSON!!!

  22. Copy Paste says:

Hey guys….. Did you ever think of…
    Copy, Paste
    Copy, Paste
    Copy, Paste
    Copy, Paste
    Copy, Paste
    Copy, Paste
    Copy, Paste
    Copy, Paste
    ???????????

  23. baseballfantasy says:

Why didn’t this get a perfect score? It is the vault boy! A monkey looking like fred astaire gets a perfect score but a picture poorly disguised of a trademarked character doesnt?

  24. Titankiller says:

did i see someone say that fallout took place after WW2? its Pa(post apocolypse) it was a throw back to all of the cartoons in the 50′s and 60′s that showed what the future would be like such has flying cars that looked exactly the same as the models there in production at the time. But it probaly was something from fallout 1 or 2 Black Isle were gluttons for cliches just like blizzard is. and dont come at me with “bethseda made fallout’ they got the license to 3 they did not create 1 2 or brotherhood of steel ( or w/e the rts version was)

  25. Zero says:

That, in both pictures, is indeed the Vailt Boy created by Interplay design staff for Fallouts 1, 2, 3 Tactics: Crotherhood of Steel, and Xbox’s Brothehood of steel.

The one on the right is an old add from the game that has been shopped, the one on the left is the add for the underground Vaults.

They are both now legally owned by Bethesda as Interplay went under, though some designers still hold out to try and keep Bethesda from completely changing/ru8ining their original idea.

He IS called the Vault Boy, the PIP boy is the personal computer attached to the wrists of all Vault residents in the game, and apparently the COurrier in the Newest installment: New Vegas.

All the games Have won many design and gameplay awards and are widely popular (save for BoS, the first fallout console game)

Recently Interplay and Bethesda were in a court battle over the rights to create the first Fallout MMORPG. As to who won or whether or not it has ended, I know not of. HOWEVER, I do know that interplay did it right the first 3 times, why not let them have a go at the MMO? Bethesda is great, but I’m afraid they’d make it into a post-apocolyptic WoW, and no one wants that…..(and if you do we shall burn you at a stake and feed your remains to some cannabalistic ghouls.)

BTW I’m a massive Fallout nerd….actually anything post-apocolyptic strikes my fancy….just so ya know!!!

  26. ASama says:

Ty Zero. Although a quick Google search would have solved all the confusion anyways.
    1. He’s officially called “Vault-Man” not “Boy”. Although if enough people call someone something it just kinda changes the name so now he’s more known as “Vault-Boy”.
    2. And he was meant to look like one of those old cartoons, however this is clearly a direct ripoff or PS’ed version of the same Fallout character. Same face, clothes, pose, and drink? Not a coincidence.
    3. Fallout probably came first, been around since 1997 and actually is based off another series called Wasteland.

  27. meemmoi says:

hit’em with something familiar and it’ll stick!

  28. Larry Lycanson says:

    MMO FALLOUT!!!?!? WHERE?!!?!??

  29. Yngve bakken says:

Both of them are same not joke
