Try as I might, I’m just not seeing this one.
Nope – not seeing any resemblance.
In different pictures, they do look alike. I’m so glad I’m not the only one who sees the resemblance.
They actually did an episode of 2 and a half men episode where the resemblence is brought up… They do look similar….

Season 4 Episode 16 – Young people have phlegm too.
Jon Cryer once told the story on a late night talk show about a police officer that felt the same way. Jon needed to get help for someone else, and the officer kept saying “You’re Ferris Bueller”. Jon tried to correct him, but no luck. Jon finally had to say that he was Ferris Bueller, which of course was Matthew Broderick’s character, in order to get that officer to help the other person.
Kind of funny to Jon at the time he told the story, but not the best example of getting your priorities straight.
There was also an episode of Two and a Half Men where Jon’s character claimed to be Matthew Broderick in order to get into a nightclub.
I always thought Frank Whaley (star of Career Opportunities with Jennifer Connelly and the recipient of Sam Jackson’s biblical vengeance in Pulp Fiction) looked like the poor man’s Jon Cryer. Except for the mid-90′s, when Jon Cryer was the poor man’s Frank Whaley.
Oddly enough, Frank Whaley played Matthew Broderick’s roommate in The Freshman. And thus the great circle of life is complete . . .
It’s not so much the circle of life as much as it is The Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.
One of my most favourite Two and a half men part is when charlie is brought to the hospital because of a minor stomach problem and Alen wants to speed it up by saying “I didnt want to make use of this but….I AM MATTHEW BRODERICK!”

Can’t forget about when he said it to get into the night club and the bouncer didn’t buy it.
One of Cryer’s first professional acting credits was replacing Broderick on Broadway in “Brighton Beach Memoirs”. Other actors who played the role (it ran on Broadway for several years) include Fisher Stevens and Patrick Dempsey.
I watched Ferris Bueller and Hot Shots when I was a kid, and I thought they were brothers. But they don’t look THAT much alike.

However, I alway found obvious that the guy who play Charlie looks like Michael J. Fox… (when I first saw Two and a half man, or “Mon oncle Charlie” here in Québec, I though it was an old show with Micheal J.Fox…)
I used to get them confused when I was younger.
i noticed the resemblance when two and a half men came out, but 1. nobody i knew heard of the show and 2. the only people who actually did, thought i was crazy

Yeah, most people figured this one out back in the 80s….we just didn’t have access to da interwebz to make it clear to the world. We had to TLL the old-fashioned way: scissors, glue and a few carefully chosen issues of People Magazine.

You know what I think really did it? Morgan Stewart’s Coming Home was very similar in plot to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (so much that some called it a rip off of the popular movie.) Watch both of them, you’ll understand. When I was a kid and both of these movies came out, I thought they looked a lot alike too. Dudes is one of the best Jon Cryer movies, Hiding Out is pretty cool too.
I have thought for YEARS that it was Matt B on Two and 1/2 men, just found out otherwisej!
For the longest time, I thought Matthew Broderick was Molly Ringwald’s best guy friend in Pretty in Pink. My daughter corrected me just a few months ago– seriously, look at pics of Cryer when he was in that movie, and you’ll see the resemblance easily.
I just watched a fairly old movie Torch Song Trilogy and before realising the character was played by Matthew Broderick was so sure it was Alan from Two and Half Men but much younger.
