Well, I think that was the idea truth be told. Granted who ever had the idea for the poster could not have lifted an idea from one the most intriguing artists ever.

  2. marrisa says:

Yeah…. it was intended to be that way… not much of a joke.

  3. Why? says:

    Definitely an intended homage there…

  4. Doc. Caliban says:

HEY! THIS PHOTO OF THE THING I TOOK A PHOTO OF LOOKS JUST LIKE THE THING THAT I TOOK A PHOTO OF!!!!

If I ever feel like ridiculing someone, this is always the best place to visit.

    I’m a bastard and I’m right.

  5. Sally Dali says:

    H-h-h-h-h-HOMAGE! (*bless me*)

  6. necromancerking says:

that photo isn’t Dali’s. it’s Philippe halsman (photography student. so had to reasearch the guy)

    • Fire Breathing Ninja Cricket says:

True, Halsman was the photographer but I believe the confusion comes from the fact Dali was originally the subject and creator of the image while Halsman just worked the camera. As far as a TLL. Well no crap. It looks just like the moth on the cover of silence of the lambs too. It’s a homage. Who keeps voting for obvious look alikes.

Plot: A caving expedition goes horribly wrong, as the explorers become trapped and ultimately pursued by a strange breed of predators.

How something that stupid could ever be an homage to an artist or photographer is beyond me. The plot of the movie doesn’t share anything with the original picture. The original picture isn’t even scary/angsty, it’s just artsy…

I’m guessing all the “Homage” posters out there are just trying to convince themselves that ripping off other peoples work is ok if you just say “homage” and then go on and copy someone else’s essay, since Halo was calling that week…

    It’s a ripoff plain and simple :D

  12. Sam says:

that movie is one of the scariest movies i’ve ever seen! i’m NEVER spelunking!

  13. Bloganon89 says:

    Really? /sarcasm

  14. Captain Obvious says:

    No DUH. Stupidest TLL ever.

  15. Fuzzman says:

    HOMAGE FAIL!
That would mean that it makes reference to the theme of his work and honors him by doing so. This doesn’t honor the artist, it clearly steals his work. In literature this is referred to as plagiarism.

  16. glitter says:

I think the biggest fail here is The Descent one missed one more person on top to make it actually complete, or else it doesn’t even look like a skull.

  17. megan says:

i’m pretty sure that was the whole idea. sets a mood

  18. anonymous says:

you guys are all morons… it is obviouosly the same thing. they just ripped off the portrait

  19. Nathalorial says:

I hated the movie “The Descent”. that one and “The Cave”. same plot, still freaked me out…
