oh dear….. well, I guess let the hypocritical Christian bashing begin. Its going to devolve into it anyways….

  2. Zeb says:

They’re both on the same level as far as theology goes, too.

    • Andrew says:

Wow, Zeb! I’m impressed. You were able to ascertain what level the mole rat’s theological thoughts and beliefs were simply by a picture? You’re AWESOME!

  3. Anonymous says:

Well, the mole rat’s cute anyway… RUFUS!
As to Joel Osteen, I’m not particularly a fan of his and tend to distrust most televangelists, but this is still just a cheap shot at a Christian – and a lame one at that. Zeb, I agree with Andrew. How do you do it? lol

  4. Zeb says:

You guys are right, I was being unfair.

I suppose I owe an apology to the mole rat.

My intention was not in any way to bash Christians. In fact, I AM a very serious, committed Christian, and I take truth very seriously. Osteen is a fraud and a heretic. I don’t intend to get into theological discussion on a site like this, but there is nothing that Osteen says that is backed up by the Bible. On the very rare occasion that he does actually use Scripture, he takes it out of context and warps it to fit what he wants it to say.

The book of Galations in the Bible actually issues a very strong curse on those who would preach a different gospel than what Paul preached. Prosperity preachers like Osteen and Benny Hinn ARE teaching a different gospel. My hope for both of them is that they repent of their false teaching and begin to teach the truth.

    • MacFall says:

Right on, Zeb. I call them “sunshine gospel” preachers. It’s all like “God wants you to be flooded with endorphins ALL THE TIME and if anything bad ever happens it’s because you don’t have enough faaaaaaaaiiiitthhhh!” And you have to make sure that lots of spittle flies out during the second half of the word “faaaaaaaaiiiitthhhh”.

    • Andrew says:

Thank you Zeb for clearing that up. I too, am a Christian. Sorry to be so sarcastic earlier, but so often and easily DOES the Christian bashing come about. I also believe Joel to be a heretic. Sometimes we like to have that “Osteen-feel-good about myself” kind of sermon, but it IS very unrealistic and more so RARELY based on or in context with Scripture. Please don’t get me started on Benny Hinn…he has let greed and love of money poison his mind…he probably didn’t start out that way in the ministry-sense.

  5. Zeb says:

Woops, that should have been Galatians, not Galations. Wouldn’t want my whole point to be missed because of a typo… ;)

  6. Junkyard says:

OMG they’re like both showing their teeth! They’re so alike!

  7. Jason says:

@Zeb – Question, what do you believe to be the truth? I’m also a Christian. I go to a Vineyard church near my home, and while we only have about 250 regular attendees (we don’t use the term “member”), our sermons are generally about breaking free from the confines of the law, understanding the grace that God gives us every day of our life, and that we have been loved since before we were a twinkle in our father’s eye. That’s truth, and it’s backed up in Scripture.

    • Zeb says:

At the risk of sounding terribly post-modern, I think that there are a number of facets of truth. However, I think that truth, by its very nature, must be both pure and complete.

As to the purity issue, think of it like this: You have two sources of water for yourself and your family. One is a faucet, and one is a pump. The faucet has a handle; turn it and it puts out water that is usually good (not to say that Osteen is usually good; he is never good), but it occasionally puts out poison that looks, smells and tastes pretty much the same as the good water. The pump takes more work, but it ALWAYS puts out good water. Which one will you drink out of? I know I would put the extra effort into getting the good water. This relates to Bible teachers, I think. There are many who seem pretty good, and are easy to listen to, but often times are not full of pure truth. Sometimes a teacher who is difficult to understand has far mor truth than the one who is easy to understand.

As to the issue of completeness, it has been said that half-truths are whole lies. I agree with that. I know that I have told part of the truth (but not all of it) to try to make myself look good. It is still deceptive. If a teacher teaches PART of the truth, but not all of it, then he is still teaching falsehood. I don’t know what your church is like doctrinally, but I would encourage you to take a close look at their teaching and the FULLNESS of Scripture and see if they are leaving anything out. I hope they are not, but it is common for churches in most of the West today to sort of gloss over aspects of God that are difficult for people to deal with. For example, God’s wrath against sin and His justice are mentioned far more times in the Bible than His love. God’s love is truth, but so is His wrath.

  8. Mike says:

KING: Is it hard to lead a Christian life?

OSTEEN: I don’t think it’s that hard. To me it’s fun. We have joy and happiness.

    • Zeb says:

      Thanks for posting that, Mike.

If the true Christian life were not hard, if we were not going to suffer, if all that God ever wants for us is to be happy and comfortable, then why the heck are there dozens of passages encouraging and commanding Christians to endure through hardship? Why did ALL of the Apostles suffer terrible persecution? Why does James command “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness”?

  9. Whisperia says:

Joel Osteen looks like Martin Short in that picture.

Also, mole rats are creepy and ugly. And clearly the devil’s minions.

  10. Squid says:

If only more xtians were Christ like there would be much less bashing. There should be no such thing as a Christian getting rich off of Christ. No Christian should ever refuse aid to those in need, even if they aren’t white Christian Americans, No Christian should threaten violence if they don’t get their way. Jesus healed the sick, blind, and lame for free, he only had hurtful words for the money changers in the temples using God’s house for profit, as far as taxes, Jesus asked who’s picture was on the money, the answer came back as Caeser’s picture so Jesus told them to give back to Caesar’s what is Caesar’s and give to God what belongs to God i.e. your soul. The best example of a Christian that was ever on T.V. was Kung Fu’s Kwai Chain Cain (sp?) even though he was a Buddist, he fits Jesus’s descriptin of a Christian almost perfectly. He only resulted to violence when he ran out of all 4 cheeks to turn.

    • koalaMADNESS8 says:

      wow, that’s a mouthful.

    • phoebe says:

great response, you have said what i have wanted to say but lacked the tact to put it so nicely. though my favorite modern day depiction of Christ is from SNL, T.V Funhouse Christmas special.

    • Xtian says:

Very good, Squid. Why is that NOT the case ? Because of weak watered-down preaching, that produces weak, watered-down Christians. Even the seminaries are failing to preach right; that’s where alot of problems started.

TV ? The Prince of the Air (Satan) is also the Prince of the Airwaves. Don’t expect a good Christian example there.

      • Squid says:

For the record I’m an atheist, I do think most religious philosophies have positive lessons to teach about peace and tolerance, but once you throw in an all powerfull deity it become a penis measuring contest, and you always have the “Leaders” who will claim it’s gods will that we need to go over to some other country kill the people there and take their stuff. IMO there is no god, at least not the god/gods that humanity has written of, there is only you that controls your life. One of the best things Jesus ever said was to remove the log from your own eye before you try and get the splinter out of someone else’s. I haven’t read The Koran yet but I’m sure there are similar themes as they are both middle eastern religions (Christianity was not invented in America)

        • xtian says:

I used to be an atheist, too. I never realized that the “natural” phenomenon called the Big Bang, violates conservation of mass-energy AND causality. Thus, it can’t be natural ….and therefore, must be supernatural.

What do you mean by tolerant ? Just getting along nicely with others ….or …..some PC celebrating another’s point of view. Most people think of the first definition, but some are keen on demanding the second.

Compare and contrast how Christians and Muslims spread their faith. Christians tell people that Jesus paid the punishment for humanity’s sin, and historically, expect to be persecuted for that. For Christians in the past, and in some countries today, they are willing to face that.
Muslims wage jihad in order to force sharia law that discriminates against non-Muslims….basically forcing people to convert out of convenience and/or their own life.

          Jihad is MAINSTREAM Islam.

Sharia law unfortunately, looks like its coming to the U.S.. some time.

          • Squid says:

you had me until Jihad is mainstream muslim. From my travels to the middle east when I was in the Navy I was treated very kindly by the residents of Bahrain & Abu Dabi. Christian bashing occurs because of what we see on the t.v. the same can be said for Islam. Xtian, your religious penis is showng as you try to compare your faith to other peoples. Christians have the blood of the indiginous people of North & South America on their hands, so please don’t tell me about the “kindness” of christian conversion. I will conceed that I do not know how it all began, nor do I pretend to know. What I do know for sure is that the gods man has written about to scare away the boogie man, or to give him an excuse to cause harm to others do not exsist. The only way I will believe in any god/gods is if they manifest themselves physically in front of me and give me absolute proof of their divinity. Another human telling me of eternal damnation if I don’t believe the same as them is just plain hogwash. Every religion is just as valid/invalid as the next, for the most part they are based on blind faith with proof being shown only after death so nobody can be told of the glory of…whatever. Any Christian pointing fingers at another relegion and calling it a violent faith needs to do some research into what Christians were/are capable of.

            • xtian says:

Watch Fitna. All the 15 minute movie is, is cause (Koran) and effect (terrorism). No dialogue is needed.
A Muslim commits violence in AGREEMENT with their scripture. I counted almost 100 verses that command violence or discrimination against the “Kuffir”. If a Christian commits violence it is CONTRARY TO the Bible.

Christians *SHOULD* be telling people about …”the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world”. That’s how we share our faith.
Don’t believe the foolishness of the last 2 presidents that its a religion of peace. Hello ? 9/11, London, Ft Hood shooting, Madrid, Mumbai, that Russian school and thousands of lesser events worldwide. They are just “striking terror into the hearts of the enemies”.
The rest of the world has the Stockholm Syndrome with respect to Islam.

    • Andrew says:

      Squid,

I used to watch that show when I was a kid..loved it! But, are you saying that Caine kicked butt only after turning his own butt-cheeks??

  11. kristina love says:

yall are retarded why are yall gonna make fun of a preacher!! stupid

  12. koalaMADNESS8 says:

Wow, now that you think of it…….you’re 120% right!

  13. rose says:

I don’t even know who this guy is, but I did laugh a lot looking at this picture. I know it’s just his facial expression….but how often do people make MOLE RAT FACES???

    It’s funny people. Lighten up.

  14. Mike says:

    Interesting!

  15. Sasha says:

This is just funny. I recognized him but it wouldn’t matter who he was anyway.

  16. BigBird says:

Mole rats – jeez, they’re ugly! Don’t know who the other guy is so (unlike other “contributors”) I will refrain from passing comment on him.

  17. Pinata_Goddess says:

Personally, i’d rather be locked in a room with the naked mole rat than Joel Osteen. Not only is the mole rat cuter but it’s also a lot quieter

  18. LOL ME says:

    mole ratz R ugly.

and some people R such chatterboxes.

  19. SIERRA says:

    OMG!!! THIS IS TOO FUNNY!

  20. Greg says:

I’d bet 1,000 dollars that the mole rat is smarter than this retarded ass christian.

  21. kevin says:

    racist

  22. Lynn says:

Joel Osteen, along with every other TV Pastor/preacher/bible teacher are false teachers. The Book of Ephesians teaches true Christians that Satan is the prince of the power of the AIR (waves). Satan controls the TV and he is not about to allow any true men or women of God to teach/preach the Truth. True followers of Christ have taken up their cross, died to self and follow Him and are hated by the world. (Matt 5:22) When you’re hated by the world, you’re not a filthy rich televangelist. Joel Osteen is one of the most blatantly obvious false teachers I’ve ever seen. It would take very little discernment to figure that out but most professing “christians” do not have the Holy Spirit and do not belong to Christ. They follow a “pastor” in some 501(c)3 government yoked deMONination (aka the Harlot that rides the beast in Revelation 17).

    • kynslie says:

thank you. that is exactly what i was trying to prove here…………………

    • Not important says:

Ever heard of Charles Price from the people’s church? He’s on a television program called Living Truth. Watch the show, or find a video of him speaking. He’s on TV, and is by no means a false teacher.

  23. xtian says:

The Bible is spiritually discerned; kind of a catch-22. You cant understand the Bible until you believe, and how can you believe without reading the Bible ? ??? Thus, people must be TOLD. Jesus said, “Go unto all the Internet and preach the Gospel to every newbie”. Or something like that…..

I don’t claim to know Muslims, just some of their motivation.

In a world full of delusions, the truth is the most hated thing.

If one proclaims the truth about Jesus and violence will be done against you because the unbelieving world (AND false Christians) will hate you. That’s why most Christians have stopped doing this because they’re too worried about what people will think about them. “You will face persecution. Pick up your cross and follow me”

Tim McVeigh grew up Catholic but said that “science was his religion. ” And he said, if the “Turner Diaries was my Bible then Unintended Consequences is my New Testament. ” NO WAY he was a Christian.

One of my points (and GETTING BACK TO THE POINT of this TLL) is that Christianity in much of America has been warped beyond recognition. That smiling guy, or heck, even the mole, could be considered a good preacher nowadays !

Those guilty of abortion violence and the recent Hutarees have no clue about the nature and character of who Jesus is, and certainly no clue about Ephesians 6. “If you love me, you will obey my commandments.” Jesus is not only a savior from sin but an AUTHORITY …. someone to obey. The professing Christians you mention have fed their anger so much that they disobey Christ. Perhaps ….because Jesus was never their authority in the first place.

And those examples are …..so saddening and disappointing.

  24. Squid says:

good, I’m glad you’re done claiming faith A is more violent than faith B. You have made my agument for me there, talking about how xtians are givin a bad image due to what we see on T.V. You don’t think the majority of muslims feel he same way? If they were all sworn to a jihad against non muslims don’t you think we would have our hands full with more than sporadic terrorist attacks considering how many millions of muslims there are?

In a world full of delusions, cold, hard, unaltered, unfeeling, irrefutable facts are the most hated things. Jesus/Mohammud are many things to many people who claim to know the “Truth” but 2+2 will always and forever = 4 to everybody. Every time a new theory comes out based on fact and scientific observation that is contrary to the teachings of books written 2 thousand yeas ago people who know the “Truth” attack it as being only a “theory” yet when asked to provide their awesome undeniable evidence to support their position they wave a book around saying “God said so” as if that should be good enough. It isn’t.

  25. xtian says:

A violent “Christian” is a bad example to Jesus Christ, for He did no such thing. But ….was violence something Mohammed did ? Look it up.

Judge a religion by it’s Prophet, not by it’s flawed practitioners.

  26. Squid says:

So, your point is Xtianity = good, Islam = bad. Guess what, alot of Muslims feel the opposite, and beyond that every other mythology feels the same way about some other mythology. You can bash Islam all you want, but to me based on the behavior of the majority of xtians, they are two sides of the same coin, and the leaders of both use their power to enslave the minds of the followers. And if it is as you say, I’ll take your word for it for now, that Mohammud promotes violence then the violent Muslims are at least following his teaching, what is the excuse of 99% of xtians that I meet? As long as the 2 mythologies are afraid and ignorant of each other the threat of terrorisim from the Islamic world, and the threat of war and invasion from the xtian world will never go away. Not to mention the fact that they have large supplies of oil, and in true xtian fashion we want it, and we’re bigger and stronger so we will just take it and force our ways on them. Go team Jesus! I never met Jesus or Mohammud, if either one truly exsisted, and I don’t believe in god so all I have to go by are the jackasses that carry out atrocities in their names. The world will be a better place once we move beyond religion and start looking for real reasons for why things are the way they are and not just because “god said so”
