    • John says:

This must be an old TV Guide Oo

    • geminigypsy2002 says:

That does totally look like Oprah’s head was put on Ann-Margaret’s body and then re-colored. WTC?

      TV Guide – Oprah Winfrey

The practice of digital manipulation for cover models and ads is certainly not a new trend. Back in 1989 Oprah’s head was attached to Ann Margaret’s body on a TV Guide cover.

This cover was created by splicing the head of Winfrey onto the body of actress Ann-Margret, taken from a 1979 publicity shot. The composite was created without permission of Winfrey or Ann-Margret, and was detected by Ann-Margret’s fashion designer, who recognized the dress.

      • SUmmern says:

ya, i didn’t think Oprah was THAT thin. not to say she’s fat.

      • Kipicus says:

Yeah, total called it. They both have the same boob shine and body type and wearing the same a-symmetrical dress that lays on the body the same way, with the leg in the same position and the arms placed in the exact same manner. I ‘shop for fun, the one thing I want to know is, how did they get the skin tones to match with out AT LEAST Adobe Photoshop 7.0? D: I am so ignorant of ancient methods, although Ann-Marget does seem to have a pretty good tan going, and it’s not like Oprah is a charcoal baby, she’s more of a milk chocolate tone, but even so they aren’t the same, it looks like they settled for a gold tone for Oprah. I need to now Google photo editing with out computer programs so that I can KNOW. xD

Yep, I remember when it came out and the midden hit the windmill over it.

      • Jeff says:

This is an illustration drawn simply by looking at photo of Ann Margaret. It was a rush job that needed to be done overnight. The artist was named Chris Notarile.

He’s best known for his work with Marilyn Monroe in which he created images so realistic it looked as though he were creating new photographs that hadn’t yet been found – collectors of Marilyn loved it.

THIS IS NOT PHOTOGRAPHIC MANIPULATION. He’s just that damned good.

    • Jeff says:

Nope. Colored pencil on acetate. Chris Notarile… google him.

  2. Ish Kabibble says:

TV Guide admitted they took the old Anne-Margaret photo, darkened the skin tone and cropped Oprah’s head on it. They took a lot of flak for this one.

  3. Harmy G says:

Didn’t take long to find this:

Let’s do a little research, people.

  4. moe says:

Actually this is an old TV guide and they took the Ann-Margaret picture, darkened her skin and put Opera’s head on it. Big news in the late 80′s early 90′s.

  5. Smitty says:

Why is her head so big?!?

  6. TootsNYC says:

Yeah, that’s a cheat. That *IS* Ann-Margraret’s body w/ Oprah’s head, and it caused a huge controversy at the time. (You have to be old enough to remember it)

  7. RedRobin says:

I still remember reading that was Oprah’s face superimposed on Ann Margaret’s body. What was TV Guide thinking?

  8. wozzle says:

I don’t remember this. I wonder why they’d do a stupid thing like that.

Anyone else think that they kinda made Oprah look like Tim Curry?

  9. Queen of the World says:

That is so racist. On behalf of all black women being senselessly compared to beautiful white women worldwide, I demand a public apology.

  10. A Random Pooka says:

I died a little inside when I read the title to this TLL.

Then I died almost the rest of the way when I looked at it.

  11. SarahDeluxe says:

    ya……oprah was never skinny.

  12. Trubbaman says:

I knew Ann-Margaret, Ann-Margaret was a friend of mine. Oprah, you are no Ann-Margaret

  13. glitterkat97 says:

a head was placed on a body then recolored… its sad tho cuz i cant tell who was in the original pic… pron Ann Margaret tho

  14. Zarggg says:

    NO S**T REALLY?

  15. Ari Gold says:

    amazing..it really does

  16. Mike says:

    Interesting!

  17. TC says:

Oprah’s face has been pasted on the other body. There is no way you can have two poses with everything at exactly the same place.

    • Pam says:

That is the point. No one thinks that they are two poses. The Ann-Margeret pose was stolen to use for Oprah’s TV guide cover. That’s why I posted it.

  18. kitty squared says:

I call shinanigans on that Oprah picture….can you say manipulated…or head implanted on different body??? her head clearly looks too big compared to the body frame!!

  19. kitty squared says:

they could have atleast TRIED to make her (Oprah’s)head the right size….

  20. Chris says:

What do you mean her head is big… Oprah’s always had a big head, she’s also full of herself and think she can get away with using other people’s bodies since she can’t shrink her own.

  21. Velvet Cyberpunk says:

The reason they look alike is because that’s Oprah’s head photoshopped onto Ann-Margaret’s body. There was a huge uproar over it. It was done a pretty long time ago, the early 90s I think.

  22. Velvet Cyberpunk says:

Oprah didn’t do it, TV Guide did. She didn’t know they were going to do that and she was one of the people upset over it. TV Guide apologized to both Oprah and Ann-Maragret.

  23. Lori says:

    Well duh—-

Am I the only one old enough to remember the stink that was raised because of this? Oprah’s head was cut and pasted to Ann-Margarets body and there was a big, fat hairy deal raised about it.

  24. maura says:

ha ha ha ha! Oh Oprah, who did you threaten to fire if they didn’t photoshop you skinny?

  25. Mynameisthis says:

looks like someone used something that doesnt belong to her :P

  26. Momof2 says:

This is definitely shopped. It was a big scandal years ago when it came out and the perpetrator admitted it and apologized.

    • Jeff says:

Haha. No he didn’t. The “perpetrator” is named Chris Notarile and he’s an illustrator. This image of Oprah is colored pencil on acetate. There is no digital work here. It was a rush job and to loosely quote his response…. “I would have used a picture of Flipper if it were posed correctly.”

  27. stef says:

    Photoshop failed

  28. PEDRObv says:

    DEAR GOD, PHOTOSHOP!
